Charmaine and Matt had been together for seven years when Matt “popped the question after saying I love you for the 1000th time that year”. Charmaine exclaims, “he kept a spreadsheet and everything to keep track!”. We hear a whole lot of proposal stories here at Hello May and that is definitely a super sweet first! The bride made her way down the aisle in a gorgeous Karen Willis Holmes gown featuring a dang tasteful thigh split. Scroll down for Zoe Morley Photography and The Barefoot Bride’s superb captures…
THE VENUE “La Porte (the ceremony venue) was really the only one that we looked at, we wanted somewhere that was semi indoors and semi outdoors so that we had a no-fuss backup in case the weather was bad. I had seen La Porte space used a lot in fashion shows and fell in love with the tiling and greenery. Centennial Homestead (reception venue) was one of about four that we considered but we loved that it felt like you were being transported out of the city into serene parkland. It was also versatile for us as we couldn’t find many venues in Sydney that catered to larger weddings.”
THE VIBE “Natural, not too fussy but still elegant. We love greenery and wanted to ensure every part of the day was us and not too forced. I worked closely with all the vendors to get their visions for the day and make sure that it all went well together.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our first dance! Matt was the one that was super keen on going to dance lessons. We had so much fun going to every class despite Matt dropping me once or twice. It was so nice to learn something from scratch to really wow our guests with. Also, Matt’s vows were so unique to the point that our celebrant, Jessie Cacchilo, said she had never heard vows like that before. They blew me away and I can’t wait to hear them over and over again.”
THE DRESS “I tried on about 40 different dresses. Most of the boutiques were really great and I found a lot of them through Hello May. Karen Willis Holmes was by far the best. They greet you on arrival with champagne and the selection is amazing. And there are so many different styles of dresses which would make it a good place to start if you don’t know what you are looking for.”
REFERENCES “Hello May! I have about 10 different issues still sitting on my coffee table. The magazine was so useful to find local vendors. I didn’t find any other magazine that is sold out there that suited our style or featured real weddings in the same way. It is so handy to know what vendors were used with these weddings, as you could see exactly how the days came together. We found Zoe Morley Photography in one of the magazines and absolutely fell in love with her photos.”
LITTLE LOL“Just as we had our first kiss a massive swarm of wasps flew out from near me. We have no idea where they came from but the reactions from the bridal party are hilarious. My maid of honour thought I had organised some surprise butterflies at first.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “The Barefoot Bride! I am so glad that we decided to get a video made. I will never regret it, the video is so magical and captured the day absolutely perfectly.”
