Casey and Rumond’s lives undertook a serious plot twist when their friendship transformed into something even more spesh and it was after five years of official lovin’ that they decided it was high time to tie the knot. Cue this aesthetically pleasing and seriously love-drenched day. Casey utilised her super skills as Grace Loves Lace’s Art Director and Rumond his digital design skills, to create a day devoid of tradition and rife with good times. Joey from Allumé Weddings was on hand to immortalise each and every detail. Scroll down for the goods…

THE VENUE “We wanted to get married in Byron as a tribute to the countless weekends we spent road tripping to our favourites spots. We visited a few venues as part of a venue open day and stopped by Villa Rustica which I knew of through Grace Loves Lace. As soon as we walked through those beautiful aged walls, we knew it was the one! Owned by artists and hidden away in the Byron hinterland, it was like our own little getaway. The Moroccan-esque architecture and decor is the kind of styling we adore and it felt completely us.”

THE VIBE “We wanted the day to feel authentically ‘us’. We negated traditions where possible to create a day that saluted who we are together and our wild love! We filled the space with only our closest friends and family so that the day felt intimate and warm, with enough time to genuinely celebrate with everyone we love. We were inspired by Autumn, earthen tones and brass accents alongside the textures and Moroccan style of the venue. We had a theme of ’neutral tones’ for our guests.”

DIY “There wasn’t a part of the wedding that wasn’t DIY! We put our creative skills to work to style the venues, design invitations and hand-paint signs – I mean, I am an Art Director after all! My superstar Dad literally built walls in our reception venue, my mum made my favourite slice for dessert, our friends were on platters and my maid-of-honour on flowers. Even the beer was home-brewed on the reception’s farm!”

THE DRESS “I was so in love with my Summer Gown from Grace Loves Lace. It was everything I wanted in a wedding dress! A simple silhouette with slinky, buttery silk that draped around my curves and a low back & v neck. The gown was so effortlessly sexy in the way it accentuates your figure while being so elegant and timeless.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “From the morning with our friends, having the best time getting ready, to the very last dance where we were torn off the dance floor, the whole day was so special. Our favourite moment, however, would have to be after we had just run through an empty field to catch the pink sunset (necessary). We sat in the bathroom trying to get the red dirt out of the train of my dress. It was so nice to have a moment alone. Seemingly mundane, that was our favourite part.”

WE ARE GLAD WE “I am so glad we had only our closest 30 friends and family share our day with us. It wasn’t easy to cut the list down but it meant that we genuinely got to talk to everyone we are actually friends with and it allowed us to have enough time to take the day slowly, with plenty of time alone.”
