Bonnie and Jarrod, part owners of a restaurant group, know a thing or two about planning events. They knew that by the time their very own big day rolled around, after six years of lovin’, that quality vendors would be essential. Luckily for them, Bonnie stumbled across the wonderful Tennille Fink Photography whilst deep into some Insta research. The bride also lucked out with a trip to Sphere Collective where she found her sparkly gown and the groomsmen suits were from the ever-chic M.J. Bale. The joys of being in the know, eh? Enough from us, quick sticks, get scrolling for details…

THE VIBE “As an event planner myself, I had so many spiralling ideas that I would have loved to bring to life and create, however, when it got down to it, I took my inspiration from our own home and the certain aspects of our life, day to day, that we live amongst. This brought us to our theme of Mediterranean meets tropical luxe style for the day. We had pops of fun and unexpected surprises too.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our ceremony set up has left a special imprint on both of us. We wanted to keep the styling minimal to allow the giant fig tree to shine and I left it open for Mikarla [Wilderness Flowers] to work her magic. She created the most perfect cascading installation along the rock base of the tree that curled and circled us. I still remember the moment the white gate opened, and that magical little space was filled with our closest family and friends and my very teary, soon to be, husband.”

THE DRESS “I didn’t allow myself to get overwhelmed with the process, as I had plenty of time and hadn’t really got myself set on anything specific. I travelled up to Sphere Collective and first tried on a few dresses that I thought would be ‘my dress style’, however, nothing amazed me so Sarah, from Sphere Collective, suggested I come back up the following month when they had a Jane Hill Trunk Show scheduled. Sarah handed me a dress that, on the hanger, I didn’t love, however, when I slipped into it and looked in the mirror, I imagined Jarrod looking back at me walking down the aisle and I said to my best friend ‘this is it’. If you had told me a year ago that I’d end up wearing a low neckline, sequin gown with a veil I would have laughed at the idea but here we are.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “We snuck away whilst everyone was enjoying dinner and I got changed into a little party outfit before our first dance. The only spare space the venue had was their furniture storage room, in the pitch black, so we found ourselves in there having a little make-out session in the quiet whilst I was peeling off my Spanx and Jarrod was force-feeding me a stick of halloumi as I hadn’t eaten anything all day.”

LITTLE LOL “One of our family friends got so excited when we were walking back down the aisle, she tripped and fell on my veil and train of my dress. I got this giant yank back and saw her in a fit of laughter rolling on the grass.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We decided early on that we wanted to flip the venue’s usual set up and utilise the back garden for our Ceremony instead of the front lawn, overlooking the mountains, as we fell in love with the idea of being married under the 120 year old fig tree. We’re so glad we did this as it allowed the three separate events on the day to have their own individualised features (ceremony, front lawn cocktails and reception).”

STANDOUT VENDORSTennille Fink, our photographer, was beyond anything we could have imagined. She made my camera-shy husband feel so at ease and she honestly just felt like an extension of our bridal party. You can tell she is a romantic at heart, and she truly laps up every moment of the day with you. Also, Ben Carlyle, our celebrant, was incredible. We wanted a fun, memorable ceremony with our family and friends and he just made it so seamless and enjoyable for us.”

Pretty well smitten with these wedding day captures? Us too! You can find more of talented lens-woman Tenille Fink Photographer’s luscious snaps and contact details here. We particularly loved Sarah & Dom’s Queensland wedding which she also shot here. And if you’re keen on the handsome groomsmen get-up, head to M.J. Bale’s directory listing here.
