Creatives Ash and Joel sure know how to have a good time so tune in if you want some tips. Looking forward to endless sleepovers together, these two rock ‘n’ roll fiends planned a pretty dang good party using a few of Hello May’s fave vendors. Securing The White Tree for photography, music and film, Ash and Joel also utilised the services of Garnish Creative Catering. Scroll down for the fun shots….

THE VENUE “The venue we ended up getting just in the nick of time was a family friends. We drove down to see it the day we found out our other venue had shut down. They were generous enough to let us use the property when we were in dire straits but everyone said that it didn’t look like Option B. It turned out pretty amazing.”

THE VIBE “We wanted Studio 54 meets Jimi Hendrix. A little bit disco and a little bit rock n roll.”

DIY… “I designed our invites, hand painted all the signage, designed our party favours, and made hand-made shots in test tubes! I also designed my dress and earrings!”

THE DRESS “I went to a few boutiques to try dresses on and none of them really spoke to me. So instead I sourced some exquisite french hand-sequinned georgette fabric and mocked up a design, and a fabulously-talented friend of a friend put it together for me. I was thrilled to have something so unique and distinctly *me*.”

REFERENCES “Most of my vendors recommended one another! We found most of our vendors local to the Southern Highlands and they were so amazing. Props to Garnish who I found via the Hello May insta and who were just ANGELIC to work with. Plus ALL the food they supplied was out of this world. I would love to get married again just to eat their spread.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “We had the worlds greatest wedding band [The White Tree]. Some of Sydney’s most talented musicians playing everything from Pony by Ginuwine to Johnny Farnham. We closed the night with a rousing rendition of RATM’s Killing in the Name of and everyone was headbanging and moshing hard.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…“So, so, SO glad we went with live music, there’s no way that the party would’ve been half as epic & wild with a DJ. We are also glad we kept our guest list tight – it let us really spoil everyone with great wine, cocktails and food. We are so glad we chose to support independent creatives and small businesses. There are so many talented creative folks out there with amazing skills, making incredible stuff. If you’re supporting them whilst putting together your wedding day, the money will always seem well spent.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Firstly, The White Tree served us up the gleaming trifecta of photography, film and live music and everything was out of this world. We couldn’t be more grateful for the memories they’ve captured for us. ALL the south coast vendors, from Garnish, to Rambling Rose Bar, Wandering Woodfire Oven and Merciers Gelato – these guys ALL went above and beyond and I could not recommend them highly enough. And of course our stylist/florist Rustic Character – they were super generous when we had to organise a whole new wedding 3 weeks out to supply extra seating and furniture and everything looked stunning.”
