Looking for the perfect place in Melbourne to kick off married life? Victoria’s much-loved capital boasts a wide variety of location types, allowing couples to truly choose their own adventure when it comes to vibe, agenda, and details of the big day.

For untraditional couples there’s modern inner-city spaces such as Chin Chin, right in the action (and ideal proximity to after-party addresses), as well as off-beat, unique spots a la The Altar Electric that will make you rethink what a wedding even looks like. Of course, Melbourne is also home to a number of romantic, leafy locations such as Gardens House and The Terrace in the Royal Botanic Gardens. There’s refined brewery vibes (Post Office Hotel), hidden industrial gems (Rupert on Rupert), and European-inspired spots that give destination wedding energy with all the conveniences of home (looking at you Farm Vigano). Not to mention, historic architecture and awe-inspiring cultural landmarks like the National Gallery of Victoria.

All this to say, if you’re searching for your dream Melbourne venue, we got you. Here’s a round-up of spots that have caught our attention (and our hearts) in 2026.

The Conservatory room offers a breathtaking backdrop for your ceremony. And for reception, revellers can retreat to The Main Dining Hall, which can host up to 80 seated guests or 200 standing. With gorgeous greenery at every turn, the venue speaks for itself, meaning you can keep styling simple or add your own personal touch if you wish. It’s easy to see why it was the winning pick for wedding photographer Hello May Bride Amanda and hubby Drew: “I’ve photographed many weddings at Rupert on Rupert as well as attending a few events over the years. Rupert has always been known as every photographer’s favourite venue because let’s face it – it’s so darn photogenic! When it came to being a bride myself, I had no hesitation in excitedly explaining to Drew that Rupert is a venue like no other.”

Greenhouse and garden wedding venue in Melbourne: Glasshaus

You may have heard of this florist/nursery for their talents in all things flora, but did you know that Glasshaus hosts weddings and events too? What we love about Glasshaus’ three venues is that they are, by default, gorgeously garnished with lush greenery so you really don’t need to add any more decor (unless you really want to). Choose from Glasshaus Inside in Cremorne (a charming 1920’s warehouse space), Glasshaus Outside in Richmond (the definition of romantic), or their newest, largest location, Glasshaus Bridge Road. Of course, you could take a leaf out of Alex & Clarissa’s book and lock in a couple. “We held our ceremony at Glasshaus Inside, which we loved for its industrial edge and natural lighting. Just adding some pillar candles ended up softening the space. As for [our reception space] Glasshaus Brucke, we were drawn to the architecture. We added our own touches of bright flowers, tapered candles and overhanging linen to lift the space. The best part was the place evolved into a moody, romantic space as night fell.”

Modern Melbourne restaurant wedding venue: Chin Chin

Looking for a modern, fun restaurant reception venue that feels a little edgy and offbeat in the best way? Let us introduce you to Chin Chin, based in Flinders Lane, smack bang in the city centre. The team sum up the Chin Chin experience as “A riotous collision of  casual South East Asian cuisine, contemporary art and local culture.” They also say “we do things our own way.” And with this spirit, it’s easy to see why they’ve captured the attention of modern lovebirds like Einnie and Tom who told us Chin Chin has always been one of their favourite restaurants in Melbourne. “We were ecstatic when we found out they could sit 130 people in their event space, as we were finding it difficult to find restaurants that could fit our guestlist and that was close to the city to keep it central with our Marriage Registry ceremony. Luckily, I had been to another event there before and we locked it in without Tom seeing the space. We just knew that our guests would love the food and felt confident we would make the space our own.”
