Readers, readers, readers. It’s Friday and in case you’ve just joined us, Fridays are for Fashion, and wine, of course. But first, fashion. We have had a few months of depressing news (not to mention the fact that some of us are still in lockdown), so it’s time to get the endorphins flowing with some fun-filled wedding dress perusing, right? And what better way to bring it to you than in the form of one of our fabulous photo shoots? Humble, aren’t we…

Seriously, though, friends. This one is the goods and it covers a lot of easy to wear, easy to dance in, shorter, less traditional vibes. Why? To cater to the gal getting married in the ever-changing environment that COVID has created. Meaning, you might be looking for a more low-key look for a smaller wedding, an elopement, or just a registry and save the big, fluffy to do for a later celebration. Or maybe this is your one and only and trust us when we say, we think you’ll love it just as much.

What should you expect? Shift dresses, shirt dresses, mini’s (looking at you, delish lace number from Chérie by Oui), pantsuits (hi, Prea James Bridal), shorts and a jumpsuit (care of Karen Willis Holmes, above, $1990), careful cut-outs, sheer blouses (from the lovely Lilia Cass Ceremonial that beautifully layer over anything), crops (that will pair so well with your favourite pair of pants or skirt), a little sparkle (that goes a long way) from Kellylin Couture and one killer pair of boots – or socks and heels if that’s your thang. Note – if it’s not, you might want to try it. Sounds odd, looks femme AF.

Toughen up your outfit with some chunky jewellery like we have from Mimco and Amélie George, and check out Meg Maskell Fine Jewellery for some very pretty and modern engagement rings (that we must say, come at a super reasonable price). And if you’re looking for more in the fashion department, don’t miss our last shoot, Love On Top, which provides the more traditional (but of course still cool) bridal gowns if you’re keen to see that side of things, too and 25 New Season Accessories you need to know about for all of the finishing touches.

If you’re not in lockdown or are planning for a boutique booking once we are out, check out a few of our go-to’s for designers we include below, Hope X Page (Sydney) and Sphere Bridal Gallery (QLD).

Oh and finally, this shoot was originally published in Issue 29 of Hello May Magazine, so if you’re a print lover make sure you check out our online store – mags are flying off the metaphorical shelves over there with freebie codes on normal editions as well as our available Real Wedding Specials.
