Lisa and Alex definitely don’t just talk the talk. First friends, then lovers they decided early on that they wanted to roam the world and uncover unusual places to marry – so without further ado they put their business, home and all their belongings up for sale and went on their way.
Now with 70 ceremonies in 70 different countries under their belt, their blog named 2people1life has garnered a worldwide following with their most recent ceremony taking place at Brown Lake on Stradbroke Island in Queensland, Australia – a place that has been visited by the native Quandamooka people for thousands of years for its healing properties.
Put together by a team of exceptional vendors including photographer Shane Shepherd and celebrant Lindsay Carroll, Lisa and Alex’s aim was to not only make friends with some of the best in the business but to honour and experience the local culture.
Aunty Evelyn, an elder of the QYAC welcomed Lisa and Alex to their sacred lake as Mother Nature cried an ocean of happy tears. “It was as though the rain was a gift from the Lake. It was so special, a goosebumps moment for sure!” says Lisa who looked amazing in her custom gown by Begitta and with hair and makeup by The Beauty Case.
Although the rain soaked through most of their decorations (including Lisa’ s beautiful bouquet by Stradbroke Weddings and their epic cake by Hansel & Gretel) if being on the road together for four years has taught this pair anything, it’s not to sweat the small stuff.
“After travelling the world for four years getting married in each country we visit, THE MOST IMPORTANT thing we have discovered is that above all else, to make a wedding day as perfect as you hope it will be, you need help from exceptional people.”
