“We met when we worked at an advertising agency together. He was the in-house photographer taking staff photos and I was a new starter on my first day. I thought, ‘this guy behind the camera with all the tatts is yum, wonder what mum will think?’ He tells me he thought the same (without the mum bit).” Fast forward five years and this couple got married in one of the coolest weddings we’ve seen, complete with a stunning gown from Love Marie Bridal Boutique and the wedding rings from none other than Grew & Co. THE VENUE “No party is complete without well-fed guests hungry for more. When Bonville Golf Resort was floated to us, it was a no-brainer. They have an excellent restaurant and their space is absolutely divine – the stunning tall trees, the pristine lawns, the space for an outdoor marquee and the most beautiful ceremony location (the rainforest) sealed the deal for us.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “I loved our make up. I wanted everyone to look and feel like themselves and Christine Yeo did an amazing job. The styling by Mikhayla of One Day Weddings & Events. I loved our acrylic signage and name chart at the entrance of the marquee. I’m also a sucker for candles and there were candles everywhere! I love the beautiful complexity of the florals (by Lotus Floral Studio) and the champagne tower was a fun way to kick off the dancing and to toast our marriage.”
THE DRESS “I’m quite minimal in style so I had always envisioned a sleek, thin strap dress with a low back and the Lennox gown from Kyha definitely delivered! I knew it was the one and Amy from Love Marie Bridal Boutique is an absolute gem – she made the whole process so easy.”

TALK ABOUT TRADITION “We held a smaller Vietnamese ‘wedding’ a month before the big day. The official ceremony consists of the bride and groom bowing to our respective parents and receiving gifts in return as a symbolic way of saying they accept our marriage. My parents gifted me a gold necklace that is meant to be passed down to each generation of women – I think I cried harder at this gesture than saying my own vows to Tom! The ceremony was held in my parents backyard and I wore a traditional Ao Dai – it was actually red long sleeve Bec + Bridge midi dress but with a matching bespoke non la (hat) and Dior pumps. It was an amazing and symbolic day for my parents and was just a taste of what was to come for the big day.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Do your research with your vendors and make sure you vibe with them and have chemistry – it makes the process much smoother. If you can afford it, hire a wedding planner – honestly, it made planning a wedding breeze as i knew One Day Weddings & Events had it all figured it out. And invest in a photographer!”

I feel celebrants are also underrated – ceremonies are the most important part of the wedding and set the tone for the rest of the celebrations. Alison Bartlett was amazing at keeping it modern and fresh, and telling our story [in a way] that wasn’t cheesy.”
