According to Vanessa and Stein, marriage means having someone who will “love you regardless of your pigeon-toed walk and morning breath and make you survive if any apocalypse came.” We like the sound of that, guys. Introduced by friends, the bride (who wore Rue De Seine) explains, “One of my first memories of Stein was him getting me a recovery water after a day at Splendour In The Grass. It was then that he really got my attention.” Fast forward to the wedding day, where a bunch of talented vendors (like Shane Shepherd Photography and Poppy & Fern) made it a day to remember. Scroll down for all the details, pics and one heck of a video by Joey Bailey

DIY “I own and run a 1970’s inspired fashion label called Nine Lives Bazaar. All the fun 70s prints you see in the wedding are our prints. These have all been hand drawn by our textile designer Sharnee Thorpe and dreamed up by (my business partner and bridesmaid) Rose and I. Inspired by original vintage prints of course!”

THE VENUE “I had seen a handful of other venues, but I knew the minute I laid eyes on Earth House that it was the one. It was the perfect combination of fancy and down to earth. Ticking off the needs of my mum (who really loves the finer things in life) and us (who are nature obsessed campers who froth the outdoors). We just loved the view and the warmth the rammed earth bricks brought to the room. Not to mention the fire place at the end of the room, that really sets the mood!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “I really adored the Nine Lives Bazaar linen placemats/napkins. It brought so much life to the room and it’s not something I’ve ever seen before at a wedding. I wanted patterned plates, but they don’t exist in the wedding hire world, so I had to find a way to bring pattern and colour to the tables and this was it! I also loved that my favourite 70s beach umbrella made an appearance. Also the hanging chairs from Trader Trove with the cascading flowers on them by Poppy & Fern. I’d seen this in an iconic 70s photo and seeing this become a reality in the 2000s was such a treat!”

THE DRESS “The Rue De Seine Elea gown! Rose sent me a screenshot of this dress from Instagram when it was first released and I just knew from then that this was the dress. It’s super ethereal and romantic and made me feel like a total goddess. My girlfriend Carla owns Made with Love Bridal and kindly made me the most exquisite veil to match. She specially matched the tulle to the tea colour of my dress and picked the most beautiful lace to border it.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t rely on the groom for much/ if any input as they just don’t care! Get them on alcohol and leave it at that! haha! Get seating plans done as soon as possible as it is such a tedious and hard task that should not be left to the last minute. Make sure you pick two to three songs for the signing of the register. It takes longer than you think! Get a second dress! There’s no better feeling that being able to tear up the dance floor and not be restricted by a long, flowing gown! Oh and preferably make it sparkly so you look like a walking disco ball!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Did the champagne tower. It was a last minute decision, but it made for the best photos! I’m also really glad we did share style food, it made for a very social and family feel feast! Great conversation starter for people who didn’t know each other and it meant people could eat exactly what they felt like. Was also good as there was leftovers for Stein and I to steal afterwards and eat in our private spa bath when the night was over!”

STANDOUT VENDORSShane Shepherdsuch a genuine and funny guy who made us feel at ease the whole time! I used Facebook as my notice board and would post questions about the different components of the wedding as my status. Virtually every person that posted recommended Shane Shepherd as photographer! 100 Mile Table– the food was out of control! People are still talking about it. Matt who manages the bar went above and beyond and made the call to go and buy more espresso martini ingredients for the bridal party! Let’s just say everyone was stoked on the caffeine injection pre-dance floor! Munro from Earth House was so hands on and helpful throughout the whole planning process and on the day!”
