Nestled in a small town on New South Wales’s south coast is a beautifully restored 1850s homestead named Merribee, and it was here that Meredith and Guy decided to say ‘I do’. Wanting to create a simple yet elegant wedding, Meredith and Guy adopted a simple approach – anything they couldn’t find, they simply made. The bar, the individually labelled copper place tags and their incredible hanging floral installations were all DIY.
“We painted jars and bottles black and wrapped twine around them and placed these on wooden stumps. We borrowed the ladders and ceremony archway from a friend and did all the flowers and greenery ourselves”, says Meredith who as one way to pay tribute to Guy’s late mother, included a number of family photos on their dessert table. Not wanting to leave their beloved beagle Zali out either, they had stationery designer Kiara Mucci of Themuccibird design beer labels with Zali’s face on them.
While guests enjoyed delicious canapû?s by Duck Duck Goose Catering and acoustic sounds by Tyne-James Organ, Meredith and Guy disappeared with one of Hello May’s favourite photographers, Scott Surplice for an intimate portrait session. Of her gown Meredith tells us, “I surprised myself when I saw a gorgeous sequinned gown and fell in love! A friend recommended Celyna Ziolkowski, so I made an appointment with her. We came up with the design together and I attended about five fittings in total. The dress came together very easily and she fit it perfectly to my body. I especially loved the shoulder pads! The long sleeves were perfect for a September wedding.”
