High school sweethearts Amber and Nick recently married at Campbell Point House in Victoria – a luxurious French-chateau style mansion on the Bellarine Peninsula. “Originally we were looking to have it at my parent’s farm in Alvie Victoria, however then we found Campbell Point House where we could have many of our family stay with us for the weekend”, says Amber who had moved to Melbourne with Nick when they were both 18.
After commissioning the talented folk at The Print Fairy to do their invitations, Amber, Nick and their closest friends and family got to work, creating all their own floral arrangements and framed photos. “The cake was a huge highlight for us as it was made by my mother. She had spent months perfecting the recipe, the styling, the taste, texture and everything in between”, says Amber whose Nana Betty Wade made homemade jam for their wedding favours. “She made 150 jars of it all on her little stove at home.”
Of her dress Amber tells us, “I only went to a few places, but the last place we went was Karen Willis Holmes and I put it on and before I even saw it in the mirror I said I’ll take it!” By far her best decision after having already teed up the ever so talented team from The White Tree to take care of their photos, cinematography and music.
After 11 years together, Amber tells us, “I don’t think we realised what marriage meant to us really until it actually happened. Most people seem to say nothing changes once you get married, which to some degree it doesn’t at all. But… when we got married by grandmother said to me £being married is the most wonderful thing. I didn’t ask why, and I didn’t understand what she meant at the time, as it’s not something, not a tangible change, but it’s a feeling and I think she is right.”
