“We wanted the day to feel like a love explosion – part disco, part ritual, part park festival. A celebration of queer joy, chosen family, and femme visibility,” Em and Deb said a big ‘F*ck Yes!’ to doing things their way, with an all non–cis male dream team leading the charge — including the ever-brilliant Samantha Heather Photography, who captured every chaotic, golden, heart-splitting moment. From handwritten vows to a vulva-themed wishing well (shoutout to Lola), nothing about this day was traditional, and that’s exactly what made it unforgettable. “Our vibe was joyful, emotional, inclusive, planned chaos.”

THE VENUE
“Em took on the lion’s share of the venue hunting and after a few didn’t work out we landed on Sydney Park Pavillion. We chose Sydney Park because we both love it. It’s a dry venue so we had a blank canvas. That came with its challenges but meant we had free reign. The venue had the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor spaces and a backdrop of the oval and park. It was special to us – it’s where we go for walks, chats, and runs. We saw a double rainbow there when we were falling in love and it felt like a sign.”
A WORD OF ADVICE
“Plan a day that reflects you. Set boundaries. Cry often. Laugh loudly. Don’t aim for perfection, aim for connection. And get someone to record parts of it! As brides, you miss so much of how guests connect. We’re so grateful we had a content creator to create some reels so we could see it through their eyes.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT
“Walking into the ceremony hand-in-hand to Extraordinary Life by Gordi — it felt like being wrapped in golden light. Our celebrant Lara (friend, icon, hot single) made the day – she kept things on track, held the emotion, made us laugh, and even tried to find a date. She did look hot! Another unforgettable standout was when our brilliant friend Carly surprised us by getting all the guests to sing a song she’d tailored just for us – Deb & Em – to the tune of the William Tell Overture. It was hilarious, unexpected and totally joyful. The vibe was chaos, camp, chorus. We were stunned in the best possible way.”
FAVE DETAILS
“There were so many joyful, thoughtful touches – it was a total feast for the senses. We loved our invites, which were designed by Em – a love letter to our story, full of bold type, soft colours and our ‘F*ck Yes!’ energy. Our Arm-Wresting Station – Inspired by uhaul.dyke.rescue, which was one of our favourite memories from a festival in London, we wanted to bring that competitive spirit to our wedding. What lesbian wedding would be complete without one? Also our vulva-themed wishing well, Lola, was handmade by our mates Jenny and Nicole. She was wild, loud, celebratory and completely iconic.”
WE’RE GLAD WE…
“Wrote our own vows, made it non-traditional, and involved our community in everything. We’re so lucky to have mates who helped with everything from the sound system to the wishing well. We wish we’d started the dancing earlier. That’s it.”
STANDOUT VENDOR
“Our incredible photographer Sam and her partner Loz were total legends. They made everyone feel at ease and managed to capture both the intimate moments and the glorious guest chaos perfectly.”
