Today, we have the pleasure of sharing with you this epic styled elopement shoot, pulled together from a rather talented bunch of West Australian creatives. We loved this one so freaking  much that we printed in the 2024 Real Wedding Special but we couldn’t keep it from the online world for one second longer either. It’s that good, friends!

The brainchild of super-talented duo, Kat from Red Eclectic and Mariah from Love On Film, the brief was all things retro with heavy influence from the 60s and 70s. “When Mariah and I became friends, we instantly connected over our love of everything vintage and analogue,” says Kat. “We both love capturing the same kind of wedding: intimate, non-traditional lovefests with a focus on fun. We started talking about our dream elopement – the dress, the flowers, the vinyl, the mustang.  We were completely inspired by the 60s and 70s aesthetic: yellows, orange and browns, short dresses, big hair and daisies. We had such a distinct vision that we decided to bring it to life with a styled shoot.”

And we are so glad they did, because the result was COOL-AF! Scroll on to see all the phenom photos for yourself and to hear from the legends that made it happen. Oh, and in the cutest turn of events there ever was, the two models in this shoot ended up getting engaged not long after as they were so inspired by the day! So much YES! Enough from us, over to the team…

RED ECLECTIC
Soon after deciding to plan the shoot, Kat from Red Eclectic met real-life couple, Shiloh and Tom, at a wedding she was photographing. “I immediately envisioned them as the perfect couple for the shoot and asked them (in the most non-weirdo way possible, lol!) to be part of it. Fortunately, they agreed,” Kat says. “The couple play such an important role in bringing the vision to life, especially if you’re a documentary photographer like myself who prefers to capture real moments. Once we had our muses, we created a vision board and started contacting vendors who might share our love of vintage vibes – and everyone was keen to be part of it. Then just as we were deciding on locations, a new bar called Ode to Sirens opened. Located in an iconic part of Fremantle, the bar is fitted out in the most divine retro décor and is dedicated to vinyl. The icing on the (retro) cake was when Louise from Nuku Couture offered to make us a custom dress. Seeing our vision come to life on the day, we were floored. I’m in love with the imagery we were able to capture!”

LOVE ON FILM
This filmmaker from WA specialises in capturing the essence of weddings through the vintage charm of Super 8 and 35mm film, infusing each frame with poetry, funkiness, and a deep sense of nostalgia. “It’s a style tailor-made for adventurous and non-traditional couples seeking something truly unique,” Mariah says. “When Kat and I first crossed paths, our mutual passion for all things vintage ignited a creative spark. From there, the ideas flowed effortlessly, leading us to embark on an exciting journey to organise a styled shoot brimming with retro vibes. Our primary goal was to transport viewers back in time, evoking that unmistakable nostalgic feeling. For me, light leaks, frame jumps, and grain – that’s the secret sauce that makes film undeniably beautiful.”

NUKU COUTURE
“When Mariah and Kat first contacted me to be involved in this epic styled shoot, it was LOVE!” says Nuku Boutique creative director Louise. ” The mention of vintage and a mustang car was all we needed to make this vision come to life. A mini was an obvious choice, in floral guipure lace, teamed with a 60s/70s full multi-layered veil with high-featured lace and tendrils to frame the face. With a modern styling twist, this look is very in vogue for today’s modern bride, too.”

EUKA FLORAL DESIGN
When Kat and Mariah approached  Tara of Euka Floral Design, the brief was all things retro, and daisies were high on the list of floral choices. “There were daisies all over the moodboard,” says Tara. “But when I found out the shoot was taking place during the middle of the day in peak Perth summer, I knew fresh daisies wouldn’t hold up. As I work exclusively with seasonal product, specifically local natives, I decided to think a little outside the box and put together some dried everlastings in a small posy º– native ixodia mountain daisy, ammobium winged everlasting, dried sago flower and pops of strawflowers and billy buttons for colour. The flowers easily withstood the heat and wind and still looked great at the end of the day. Plus, they were all locally sourced and 100 per cent naturally dried with no preservatives or dyes!”

AMANDA GALLOWAY MAKEUP
“It was all about big hair and dramatic smokey eyes,” says Amanda. “I used a gel liner to create the winged effect, which I then smoked out with a small brush. The modern-day beehive was upstaged by the giant veil so we used some padding at the crown as a solid base for the comb to securely sit in.”
