What a wedding, friends! Do not miss this one! Jamilla and Mark met in Berlin on NYE of all nights and a few years later, the groom (who wore a chic M.J. Bale suit, complete with Kavalri ring) proposed on NYE in Rome. Dreamy, right? The bride wore Georgia Young Couture with a glorious Cushla Whiting wedding band and the couple used a long list of our fave vendors for photography (hi, Jackson Grant Weddings), florals (we’re looking at you, Pomp & Splendour) and music (Melbourne Entertainment Company). Scroll down for all you need to see and know…
THE VENUE “Once we’d met with the team at Panama Dining Room And Bar and they had the date we wanted, we booked it. I especially love the amber coloured glass dividers at the entrance and how can you go past those amazing windows?”
THE INSPO “I was having quite a bit of trouble picking colours and a theme for the day but I read somewhere to write down three words to describe the kind of day you want – we wrote down: fun, relaxed and inner city. Another great tip I found when trying to lock in a colour scheme was to look around at what you already have in your house, in your wardrobe etc. We have an amazing piece of art from Adele Naidoo hanging in our bedroom. This piece became the colour scheme of the wedding with Pomp & Splendour even using some of the flowers in the artwork in our florals.”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers were absolutely divine, especially the ceremony piece. I remember when my bouquet arrived at the hotel, I nearly died. I always have flowers in the house so it was a big part of the day and so when I saw how the team at Pomp & Splendour had taken my brief and turned it into these amazing pieces, I was blown away.”
THE DRESS “I just couldn’t stop thinking about the Cumquat gown from Georgia Young Couture. Initially I was worried it was too casual but then I realised it was an amplified version of exactly the type of things I like to wear in my day to day.”
THE SUIT “We took a while to figure out what Mark would wear but we always knew it wouldn’t be a traditional suit. Originally we considered two tone but then really liked the beige look (from M.J. Bale).”
MARRIAGE MEANS… “Jamila sent me a quote that says, ‘marriage is an endless sleep over with your favourite weirdo’ and I think that sums us up pretty well.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Engaged The Small Things Co. to style the wedding including setting up and packing down. It took a lot of stress out of the day.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Dan at Panama Dining Room And Bar, Emily from State of Reverie, Pomp & Splendour and was blown away and Jackson Grant Weddings. I don’t even have words to describe how perfectly he captured our day perfectly. My favourite thing about Jackson’s photos are all the brilliant candid images of our friends and family enjoying themselves at our wedding.”
