Welcome to the elopement of Will and Kat. Thanks to COVID, their wedding plans got put on hold, not once, but twice… “Brutal!” But it all ended up pretty darn good in our humble opinion, ‘cause we can’t get enough of this wedding, organised in 24 hours! “We texted Katie Harmsworth [photographer] and Precious floated the idea and they helped us pull it together,” says the bride, who had her stunning hair and makeup done by Kate McCleary Hair & Make-Up Artist. Together for 11 years, scroll down for the loved up pics and their story…
THE INSPO“We planned our elopement in less than 24 hours with the only vibe in mind was to keep things fun. We made a last minute decision to elope in the Royal Botanical Gardens at sunrise. We always walk around the gardens and it just felt right to celebrate there together.”
FAVE DETAILS “I must say my flowers definitely have to be a favourite. They were inspired by a photo of a bouquet from the 80s – I arranged them myself the day before (with a little help from a local florist, Grown Florists).”
THE DRESS “My dress was designed by myself. I was inspired by vintage runway looks with a mix of modern dresses that had a similar vibe. I always knew I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress (it’s just not my vibe) so I did a little sketch one day and it just stuck. I sourced the fabric from d’Italia and they recommend a great dress maker Mary Andronis (Sassi By Andronis) who whipped it up in a few weeks. It was a raw silk and just perfect in my mind. My suit is a runway Dior wrap-around tuxedo. I was drawn to the classic look of a wrap-around tuxedo, and with tailoring and accessories sourced from Dior and Tom Ford by Harrolds I couldn’t be happier with how it came together.
LITTLE LOL “We couldn’t stop laughing all morning! But just before we wrapped up, Katie Harmsworth wanted to get a shot of us popping a bottle of champagne that we had with us. The only rule Katie had was not to pop the bottle in her direction as she didn’t want her equipment to get wet. Will obviously didn’t listen clearly and absolutely saturated Katie and everything she owned. It was hilarious. Not ideal but so funny, and we all had a good laugh!”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Pulled the pin and eloped after our second wedding got cancelled due to COVID-19. We did wish we had friends and family there, but we couldn’t imagine organising a third wedding, and we do not regret it one bit!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Both Katie Harmsworth (photographer) and Precious Celebrations! We couldn’t have done it without them, and their absolute passion for the couples they work with! They came to our rescue and helped pull together our elopement dream with such ease. Thanks guys, you bloody legends!”
