For Stef and Liam Byron Bay has always been a special place.
Stef was borne in Lismore and Liam lived in the area during his training as an anaesthetist and pain medication specialist. With the pair hoping to make the move to the North Coast in the near future, a Byron Bay wedding was a no brainer. “When we started looking at venues in the area, Fig Tree instantly stood out to us. The location itself was stunning and we were really excited about the idea of having a beautiful shared meal outdoors, given that it was going to be summer.”
Having already sussed out the work of photographer Ash from Stories By Ash, Stef said they made sure to book her before any other vendor. “I had seen some of Ash’s photos on social media before we were even engaged and had made a mental note to look her up when the time came. Her photos are so emotive and beautiful…Ash recommended Elina Valtilla for hair and makeup and Estelle from The French Petal for flowers.”
Stef discovered her dress at The Babushka Ballerina, “My sister, Carni picked out the dress for me and I loved it. The girls at The Babushka Ballerina were really helpful and did a great job at suggesting alterations and teaching me how to tie the dress.”
Their friend and celebrant Lauren Meakin‘s special touch on the vows ensured there wouldn’t be a dry eye in sight. “She asked Liam and I to list 10 things we loved about each other and didn’t tell the other person. It was such a great idea and made for a very emotional, warm and funny exchange.”
The couple ended their celebrations with a swim, yes, a swim! “We made a point on our wedding invitation to encourage everyone to bring their togs to the wedding and at the end of the night there were quite a few (including Liam and I) who jumped in the Fig Tree pool to cool off. It was great fun.”
Thanks to the wonderful staff at Fig Tree and Byron Bay Weddings Stef and Liam’s summer day wedding couldn’t have run more smoothly.
