Together since high school (for 11 years, after meeting in year 11, in fact), these two are high school sweethearts in every sense of the word and we’re here for it. Their proposal story was pretty sweet too – at sunrise in Switzerland, no less. Skip to their wedding day and a long list of our fave vendors were used – Pia & Jade on flowers and styling, Married by Allegra on all the official stuff, Tillee Music and The White Tree on entertainment, Georgia Young Couture and Karen Willis Holmes on dress designs and Heart & Colour on pics (with The White Tree on cinematography, too!) so we were hoping it was going to be a good wedding and boy were we right. THE VIBE “I don’t know if I had a set ‘theme,’ however I wanted something true to our personal style, scrolling through Pinterest I loved the colour palettes of black, whites and light pinks. We tried to have a wedding that was modern and chic.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Pia & Jade did the most incredible job creating the vision of my dreams with the floral and styling, she got the vision that I wanted to portray as soon as I linked my mood board to her.”
THE DRESS “The dresses! Surprisingly, this was a decision that I found quite easy. I have always loved gowns that were simple yet structured and I had a feeling I would go for something like that. My first gown was Georgia Young Couture and my second gown was Karen Willis Holmes – both, extremely talented Australian designers. The Karen Willis Holmes gown was incredible and one of the best decisions I made. Being able to change into a gown that I could move and dance the night away was heaven. I loved the idea of being in a sparkling number for the party part of the night and a bit of traditional for the ceremony.”
KEY VENDORS “Before starting Engaged Creative, I used to be the International fashion manager at One Fine Day Wedding Fair so I was able to gather a lot of my vendors through the friendships I formed whilst working there for five years. I then continued those relationships and knew as soon as I got engaged who would be right for our special day.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “A very special moment for me was at the end of Dave’s speech his brother passed me an album that Dave had made me of the past 10 years we have been together – he’d kept little things that were special to us. Like little love notes to each other or menus from incredible dinners we’ve had in certain parts of the world with images all throughout. It was one of the most incredible moments, whilst everyone was dancing, taking 10 minutes alone together to look through this album and see the incredible 10 years that we’ve spent together.”
COOL CUSTOM “Instead of gifting everyone with wedding favours, we made a donation on behalf of our guests to Dementia Australia. This was a disease that affected my late grandfather (Sophie). This was our way of including him in our day and recognising how he was to me.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Goodness, we had so many vendors that made the day so special, our photographer Phil and Bek from Heart & Colour just put us both at ease. Pia & Jade went above and beyond with her florals and styling, Ooralba Estate made the whole day run effortlessly and Georgia Young Couture and Karen Willis Holmes for their incredible experiences.”
