These two lovebirds own and run their own shop in the centre of Nicosia, Cyprus that focuses on floral installations for events. So naturally, Sophia and Yiannis went rogue when it came to their own wedding and the pictures by Eric Ronald prove it. Opting to get married in their family village, this wedding is pretty much as wholesome as it gets. Scroll down for all the awesome details…

THE VIBE “What was important to us was to fit in with the environment and not the other way around. The flowers we chose blended in with the nature of the village. Even the food was traditional with a modern twist. Our favours (a ceramic loaf of bread) to our guests were a representation of what was given in the past to family and friends when the couple invited them to their wedding.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The women from the village contributed in their own way by cutting flowers from their garden and giving them to us to add to the overall decoration. Their deed showed the warmth of the villagers. No matter how much planning you do, this is not something that can be easily found.”

THE DRESS “The dress was designed by Adam Zohar. I wasn’t seeking the dress for too long, as I knew what I wanted. Three months before the wedding I found it in a boutique shop in Cyprus [Gala Montenapoleone]. The whole experience was memorable as my best friends and I spent some quality time together in the search of it.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “It is traditional for the couple to spend some time separately with their own family and friends. In each house a few hours before the wedding, family and friends accompanied by musicians playing traditional music, help the bride and the groom to get ready for the wedding ceremony. This was an extremely emotional moment for both of us because our grandparents, parents, uncles and friends had their one to one moment with us during this traditional ritual and gave us their blessing.”

LITTLE LOL “I left the house early in the morning to set up the arch at the venue when supposedly I had to be getting ready for my wedding. I vividly remember a waiter staring astonished at me and saying: “Aren’t you the bride? What exactly are you doing here?”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We wouldn’t have made it without the help and coordination of our best mates and partners, Lefki and Tina of The Event Co.”
