After six years together, hopeless romantic Billy proposed to Lu in a fairy light strewn gazebo and from the sounds of things, Lu was pretty stoked, as she tells us, “When we got underneath the gazebo there was a small table with a framed photo of our baby’s ultrasound and a lightbox next to it with the words “Will you marry daddy?” Billy then gave me the ring and I said yes!”. Opting for a Vegas registry style wedding, complete with an epic Photo Booth (Heres looking at you Heartbreak Hotel Photo Booth), the pair were channelling an urban retro vibe. THE VENUE “The ceremony venue was an easy one as we had decided we wanted a registry style wedding – something small and casual. We originally were going to go with the registry office in Melbourne but it didn’t feel like our style. We found the Altar Electric that did registry style weddings with a bit more personality which we loved. From there it was a no-brainer to go with Rupert on Rupert which is like two doors from the ceremony venue.”

THE DRESS “My dress was a cream lace, high neck, three-quarter sleeve, knee-length dress made by Free People which I found on ASOS. I had seen it long before I started trying dresses but it was out of stock. So I ended up buying and returning about 10 different dresses  before finally going back to the original dress when it was in stock.”

LITTLE LOL“Our morning of the wedding was so cruisey and chilled, just having a few drinks with my sister and brother in law in our hotel room, that we completely lost track of time and left ourselves about forty-five minutes to get ready and get in the taxi. It was the most stressful part of the whole wedding.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “I would say try not to stress over the planning because not everything is going to be perfect on the day. And for all the planning you do, you also have to be present in the moment and enjoy it because it will go by so quickly.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our celebrant and the crew at The Altar Electric definitely went above and beyond for us and our guests. They were so lovely and accommodating. And just gave the whole experience a lovely friendly vibe.”
