Together for 10 years, Shivawn, an osteopath, and Jarrod, and electrician had just a few simple requests when it came to planning their party, “We wanted to have fun, and we wanted everyone else to have fun,” they tell us. “We wanted it to reflect us as much as possible and wanted it to be a bright, cheerful and a big celebratory party with great food and company.”
And boy, did they pull it off! Held at the always amazing Rupert on Rupert, these two lovebirds were dressed to impressed in Marquise Bridal and Joe Black, and the fab Bech Rocchi was there to catch this glorious colour-bomb day on camera.
THE VENUE “As soon as I walked into Rupert on Rupert, I knew it would be the one. It is true what they say about ‘when you know you know’. The styling of the venue reflected our style, there were amazing plants everywhere… it is gorgeous. There is so much suave and character to the place and so many different spaces within the venue for the lounging guests, the party guests, the in-between guests. Even the toilets are cute. And then I met Mali – an incredibly lovely human who sealed the deal. Of course, I then went home to tell Jarrod all about it and show him some videos I had taken, and we locked it in.”
FAVE DETAILS “The colour scheme: this brought a lot of vibrance and fun to the day, taking it away from a traditional looking wedding to our dream party. The flowers: Alyssa, our florist [Sour Sunflower] was able to bring what we envisioned to life. She is so talented, and we cannot have imagined it any other way. It was beautiful to look down our aisle and see the gorgeous floral arbour she had created. Having our friends sing & play our favourite song as the last song of the night. This was really special.
THE DRESS “I loved everything about my dress, from the shape to the detailed pattern in the beading, it made me feel very elegant. The dress was from Marquise Bridal.”
THE SUIT “I didn’t want it to be like all the other black suits I have worn in the past, I wanted a suit that was more classic, formal and sophisticated. The suit was Joe Black from Mens Suit Warehouse, it was quick and easy picking the suit as I knew what style I had in mind and then it just had to be tailored and it was ready to go.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Beck, our photographer, was with us all day, we had not met her in person prior to the day, yet it felt like we had known her forever. She made us feel so comfortable, while we are both not normally confident in front of a camera. She allowed it to be stress free and also brought her flare of fun to the day. Rupert on Rupert… wow, all of it was just so spot on. As we mentioned previously it is just such a beautiful looking venue, the food was delicious (we still have people talking to us about this) and there was plenty of it, the staff were so kind, there is not one single thing we would change about how they function.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Did a first look and had bridal party and parent photos before the ceremony. This meant that we only had to jot off quickly for couple photos and didn’t have to miss much of the reception.”
