Seven years after these two met and now with a daughter in tow, Shinnai admits it was “love at first sight,” on meeting Michael. She also busted her Mum’s myth that you can’t meet your husband out clubbing! Also, worth noting, the bride describes marriage as “a sleepover with your favourite weirdo for the rest of your life.” Enough said right? But if you want to see more, scroll down for photographer, Nectarine’s brilliant pics…

THE VENUEWe had originally booked a different venue but it was larger and didn’t align with our intimate vibe, which as time went by, we were [more] drawn to. We by chance went into Hadiqa for a drink after shopping in Perth’s CBD and as I was sipping champagne, I said to Mick this would be amazing as our wedding venue. We really envisioned our wedding to be a relaxed, intimate vibe; whilst also creating a unique fine-dining experience and totally spoiling our beautiful friends and family.”

FAVE DETAILSOur choice of music. Each song from the aisle song, to the first dance song, all had a meaning and a memory behind them. The flowers from Natural Art Flowers – I adored Rebecca’s work and knew she was one of the most renowned florists in Perth, if not Australia. I gave a guided colour palette and some preferred blooms to include, but I also wanted to give Rebecca creative reign to come up with the best arrangements possible. She absolutely blew us away and it was very exciting walking into the reception and ceremony seeing her creations! Our photos – the moments Nectarine captured on the day were amazing. Having the right photographer for me was HUGE. One of the most important parts of the whole wedding. Mick and I wanted someone who would capture the candidness of the day, but also putting a complete glamourous touch was what I was searching for and I found it in Loren!”

THE DRESS “The dress is a custom Pallas Couture. It took over a year to create with a number of different fittings to make sure it was made perfectly to my body and shape. The whole process was very stress-free! I really wanted a semi-practical dress because I wanted to be able to feel comfortable in it the whole night, I didn’t want to spend any time fussing and I also didn’t want to have to stay away from my beautiful daughter/ toddler for fear of her stepping on parts of my dress.”

MEMORABLE MOMENTOur favourite part of the day was the ceremony both Mick and I had no idea what to expect, but it was absolutely gorgeous and filled with emotion. From the location to the relaxed vibe our wonderful celebrant Alicia Zulberti Marriage Celebrant gave off. As the bride, I loved walking down the aisle to seeing Mick and Harlow standing there! The realisation of the uniting of our family was such a special moment and we felt that was the ceremony did for us.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…We are so glad we did personalised vows. We loved including our daughter in part of our ceremony. This was something we were iffy on (as we weren’t sure how Harlow would go). But we decided that she is one of the biggest symbols of our love and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way! We are so glad we booked Simone (via Streamline Entertainment) to play the saxophone alongside DJ Rod Munoz via (Kaviar Bridal Corporate Events) for the reception. It added such an amazing point of difference, it was a total vibe and something we hadn’t seen done before!”

WE WISH WE… “Booked a videographer. We made the mistake of not having [one] and the days goes so fast, it really is an emotional blur. We felt it would have been amazing to be able to relive the magic in the form of a video which would have complimented our photos perfectly.”

STANDOUT VENDORS Glam team – Courtney Therry of TXC Collective (makeup) and Shane  Woods (hair) – are two of Perth’s best, so I completely trusted them. Photographer, Loren of Nectarine made Mick and I feel so comfortable in front of the camera and really did go above and beyond in every way. [And] Marchesi (Ray Marchesi) was incredible. He is renowned in Perth for his eye for detail, his high-end style and his old-school gentleman touch!”
