With four years spent happily together, Scott and Trevor decided to tie the knot in scenic Queenstown, New Zealand. Having discovered the gorgeous grounds of Stoneridge Estate whose sweeping views of Coronet Peak and Lake Hayes are some of the best in NZ, both agreed the venue would be the perfect backdrop to their epic day.
The pair enlisted the help of Stacey from Colour Me Happy Weddings to style the day, and man did she do a fantastic job. “We wanted something rustic, but gentlemanly. We had some colours in mind and had a bit of a mood board going, but to be honest we didn’t have a tone of rules…Considering the rather vague’ brief she got, it turned out she knew us better than we knew ourselves!”
To capture the day, Scott and Trevor hired Dawn Thomson Photography, both agreeing that Dawn’s laid back approach ensured the final product was exactly what they were after. “Our photographer was so effortlessly brilliant and so easy to work with.” We couldn’t agree more!
As far as stand out moment from the day went, we couldn’t be more in love with this beautiful recollection: Whilst the pair were enjoying their afternoon portraits with Dawn amidst the scenic Crown Ranges, a young family approached them. “Their young son asked what we were doing up there and we mentioned that we had just gotten married. The family came up and congratulated us and even got a photo with us in it.” Scott went on to say, “This stayed with me as it was the first sign from the universe that proved to us that what we had done was about love and that anyone could get it’. You just have to be here in Australia right now to understand the challenges we are going through with the same-sex marriage plebiscite, this made it all seem irrelevant in such a wonderful and innocent way.”
