In love for a little over six years, this couple describe their day as “a little festival of love,” and we couldn’t agree more. But let’s back up a little to the proposal. “We were getting ready to go for a surf together when Kimbo suggested we brush our teeth by the little creek on our property. We wandered down the creek and as I had finished brushing he was down on one knee. Instead of asking ‘will you marry me?’ he was so nervous that he jammed the ring on my finger and said ‘sweet it fits’.” Want to know more? Of course you do! One of our fave photographers, Paris Hawken Photography, was there to capture it all on camera and you can find pics as well as more from the happy bride and groom below…

THE VIBE “We didn’t really have a theme, it was more what we could source from op shops, Gumtree, and our wonderful friends and family. We both just wanted to get married in the bush with our favourite people.”

FAVE DETAILS “The whole day was amazing. Our bridal party organised super fun Hens and Bucks days (surf comps/ horse riding/ games etc) which made us both feel so loved up and excited about the wedding day. Kimbo’s sister and mum whipped up amazing handmade wedding invites. We found the flowers and desserts from wandering around the local Farmers Markets. Kirk’s Kitchen made his famous fish tacos and even spoiled some of the kids and my aunty to hot chips which wasn’t even on the menu, what a champ! The wedding cake was heaven, La Dolce Vita Catering went to school with Kimbo and her grazing table and GF cakes were just so delicious! Music and Videographers, the celebrant… A real standout for me was that it was a real honour going into my mum’s beautiful garden with a pair of secateurs and being told we could pick whatever we liked for my bouquet and flower crown. Mum worked hard in the garden and it paid off, it was just a delight hanging out in it in the morning of the wedding.”

THE DRESS “I tried on a few dresses in Perth with mum which was fun! But the dress was purchased online from Spell Bride very early on, as we were moving to NZ for work on a yacht. Two months later COVID lockdown happened and we moved back home to Margaret River. It was close to what I was after and Jan (Kimbo’s mum) worked her magic on it and removed the lace off the bodice. It was then perfect, I could dance in it, swish around and felt fab!”

MARRIAGE MEANS… “Endless adventures with your best friend. It’s sharing your life with the most wonderful person. We feel that marriage is about weathering the storms, enjoying the calm and encouraging each other. It’s an epic feeling to have a surf, dive, sailing, walking, home building buddy for life.”

A WORD OF ADVICEHave fun. It really is just the most wonderful day! All your favourite people, favourite food and music all in the one place- couldn’t get better than that! Relax and enjoy the ride, from beginning to end. The planning, ideas and creating is so enjoyable. We both loved our time in the morning with our family and bridal party getting ready together too. [Also], on the day, set aside time to eat quietly (we had a quick bite to eat after the photos and before we went into the reception) and have a moment together as husband and wife!”
