This fun-loving duo got engaged at the top of a mountain, got drunk at a bar, had a nap and then went out for a 13-course meal with wine pairing. At one point, “Scott took a hold of my ring to admire it, accidently pulled it off my finger with such force that it went flying across the restaurant floor and landed under someone else’s table.” So you can already tell this wedding was going to be a good time. Add a few of our fave vendors – She Takes Pictures He Makes Films (on photography and videography), Georgie Boy (on florals) and Dann Event Hire (on well, hire items) – and it’s a recipe for fun with a capital F. So scroll down for all the good stuff…
THE VENUE “It was actually Scott who found the venue. He saw that one of the Australian cricketers got married there, and when I saw the photos it looked like another world. It felt like an English garden, but with an Aussie touch. A perfect representation of us.”
THE VIBE “Bold, modern, earthy. A visual representation of Scott and myself! We’re chalk and cheese so bringing our personalities together and making it look cohesive was a huge task, but Shonel from Nomad absolutely bossed it.”
FAVE DETAILS “Our band were incredible, they just reacted to what the crowd was vibing, and the DJ/band was the perfect combination. It was never discussed, but they somehow worked out Sarah and all her UK mates loved Garage, so they were dropping so many UK Garage tunes, that kept the dance floor full the entire night. Scott loved the quirky Star Wars details and references that Shonel from Nomad was able to weave into the styling, whilst keeping it elegant and tasteful.”
CUTE CUSTOM “Both of our fathers have passed away, so we had picture frames on easels with a collage of each of them. Sarah’s brothers took the role of father of the bride, and during their speech they gifted me a flat cap which is symbolic of Yorkshire, Sarah’s home county in England. We also had white roses dotted throughout the styling – the heraldic symbol of Yorkshire, in ode to Sarah’s Dad and her heritage. And then foil wrapped chocolate ‘guinea’s’ from the famous Betty’s Tea House in Harrogate where Sarah’s family lives.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “What really makes the day is how much fun everyone is having. The right vendors are important to make that happen, but they’re the ones who you get on well with and know how to take your personality and turn it into their art form.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “Lucy & Alistair from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films made me look absolutely bomb! Andrew Blake from Blake’s Feast was just so on the ball and so flexible. Shonel from Nomad is incredibly talented and also incredibly resilient. Whilst going through intense cancer treatment, she completed our styling designs, arranged all of the logistics with another stylist in case she couldn’t be there on the day [and] Ruby & James, who stepped in just a few weeks before the wedding were an incredible example of how people in the wedding industry look out for one another.”
