Three years ago, Mel and Alec met at the Big Pineapple festival in QLD and six months long distance later, Alec moved to Adelaide with Mel and the rest is history. They planned and booked their wedding within six weeks of getting engaged and found out they were pregnant on their honeymoon. What a story already! But back to their big day… Jessica Mary Photography was the lens lady shooting the celebration and you can find out all about it below…
THE VENUE “I had always dreamed of a beach wedding, and Alec loved this idea as well. Thomas Street Reserve was located where we had just purchased our first home together, and to have all our family and friends come together in our new home town, where the next chapter of our life was starting sold us straight away. Aldinga Secret Garden via VENYU was the first venue we looked at – we both knew the garden was the perfect reception location so didn’t look at any more.”
THE INSPO “Engagement party vibes with a wedding ceremony chucked in there. Boho, relaxed, chilled, beachy vibes – we wanted a day that reflected us as people, and all our loves in life.”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers (Flowers of Envy). I had sent one photo of what I liked and provided a description of what I wanted in addition (touch of peach), I never went to the flower store or looked at what I was getting, only the description of the flowers she emailed back (I didn’t even Google these) but the flowers, OMG, they were so perfect and made the day!”
MARRIAGE MEANS…”The person to you can polish a bottle of wine with and not be judged but encouraged!”
LITTLE LOL “My nephew (two years old) was the ring boy, he brought the rings to us during the ceremony with my sister and he walked the ring container to us, got about 1.5 metres away from us and just threw it and walked away, it was funny and so cute.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Use a budget planner! Before planning, both choose what is most important for you on the day, and what isn’t. Be willing to choose alternatives to fit your budget because weddings are expensive and you won’t really just how expensive they are until you start getting quotes!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Aldinga Secret Garden (via VENYU) – the owner Janet, was amazing, she let us go to the garden multiple times to figure out how we wanted it to be set up, she was there for set up and pack down helping make my vision come true! Cucina Cufone – ensuring I was fed and forcing me to eat! The pizzas were also to die for! Alana Bray Music – she learnt 6 different songs for us for the ceremony, willingly and not with any extra charge. We spoke to a few different musicians and most said they would learn one to two songs maximum. Jessica Mary Photography and Mitchelson Film – these two were a dream to work with, Alec hates camera’s and this was what he was dreading most about the wedding, they made the day so easy, and enjoyable and captured our day so perfectly.”
