Lulu and James had been together for a solid ten years before tying the knot. Opting for a ‘wedfestival’, these two groovers took DIY to a new level setting up a whole glamping site for their nearest and dearest. Decked out in Grace Loves Lace, Lulu’s walk down the aisle was naturally James’ fave moment of the day. Ashleigh Haase Photography was there to capture the unbelievable amount of sweetness. Scroll down for the details…

THE VENUE “We enquired with a few venues around the Bellarine Peninsula before finding Harrison Estate. What we loved about the property was that it was by no means ‘polished’ or ‘perfect’. It was rustic and natural and had an incredible ‘lived-in’ vibe because it was also Ewan’s family home. The grounds and gardens were landscaped and cared for by Ewan himself, and there were so many ‘areas’ around the property that inspired us. We knew we could utilise the areas for different parts of our day.”

THE VIBE “Our theme was ‘Boho Glamp Wedstival’. We love nature, going to music festivals, eating from food trucks, and the relaxed, effortless vibe of bohemian style. We also wanted to create a space where our family and friends could stay on-site and party at the end of the night. So we hired some food trucks, created a glamping paddock, and decided to build on Harrison Estate’s rustic charm by incorporating a lot of native florals, earthy hues, moody lighting, and a carefree boho aesthetic.”

THE DRESS “My dress was from Grace Loves Lace. I’ve always loved their dresses. Originally, I had envisioned a long-sleeved, low-backed dress, and was really in love with the ‘Inca’. However, since their only Australian showroom is in the Gold Coast, I wasn’t sure I’d have an opportunity to try any of their dresses without having to spend extra money to fly up there. Luckily, they held a sample sale in Melbourne last April! So, I decided to take my mum and girlfriend, Miriam, along. We’d been there for about an hour, and I was beginning to lose hope. Then suddenly Miriam handed me a dress and said, “What about this one?” It was not long-sleeved, nor was it low backed. Instead, it was off-the-shoulder and figure-hugging. I thought, not in a million years would that look good on me! But I tried it on anyway. The dress fit like a glove, and I felt fabulous in it. I looked at mum, and she was tearing up. Miriam was two thumbs up, and all the ladies around us were looking at me, whispering and nodding to each other. One girl even walked up to me and told me to get the dress because it looked so amazing.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “When dad saw me in my dress for the first time. He took one look at me and bawled his eyes out! He’s usually such an unemotional man, I was so completely surprised by his reaction. It made both mum and me cry, and the three of us shared this special moment just hugging each other.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…We are so happy we decided not to skimp on our wedding photography. If you pay for quality, you will truly get it. STANDOUT VENDORS “Hattie Cox, our planner/stylist/coordinator. She is worth her weight in gold, and truly the best person to have your back whilst planning the biggest day of your life. Even ‘above and beyond’ is an understatement for what Hattie did for us. She took our brief and ran with it, sorted things out like a boss, and basically ensured that our stress-levels remained minimal. Ashleigh Haase, our photographer was also amazing. She keeps it real, she’s lively and so damn talented. We couldn’t have wished for a better photographer to capture our special day. Last but not least, Ewan Harrison, the owner of Harrison Estate. What a champion bloke. He helped pull so many strings to get us over the line.”
