Together for 8 years, Lucy and Rowan got engaged in the most romantic city on earth, Paris! Whilst the proposal wasn’t a surprise due to ‘open book’ Rowan being unable to keep a secret, it was a morning picnic under the Eiffel Tower followed by dinner inside the Palace of Versailles, so safe to say he nailed it. The photos, courtesy of lensman Jon Gazzignato, are proof of the couple’s superb taste. Scroll down for more…

THE VENUE “We have always loved MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). We love art, music, food and architecture. MONA always has something going on- we felt like it was a chance to be ourselves and to be surrounded by such dramatic features. The Middle Eastern-themed menu was amazing. The head chef at MONA fulfilled our foodie dreams – the cold drip coffee shots following dessert was a highlight for us coffee lovers.”

THE INSPO “There was no overall theme but we decided the wedding was simply ‘MONA-esque’. It was dramatic, whimsical, a bit bohemian, soft colour palette and ‘arty’. We loved our soft looks contrasting with MONA’s rusty walls, concrete and strong architecture.”

FAVE DETAILS “Our invites were exquisite. Tess from Little Duck Calligraphy is the most talented artist. We still cannot get over how she hand wrote all the addresses in her signature calligraphy print. The way in which the invites were packaged and presenting was next level. We got to keep the return address stamp too. Our flowers were beyond divine. Sophie at Whimsy Florist nailed our colour scheme and incorporated cotton, gum leaves, beautiful roses, natives and thistle. I have managed to dry my flower crown and bouquet- a lovely reminder of the day.”

THE DRESS “My dress is from Spell. I actually did not try on any dresses in the lead up to the wedding – I was too busy and I missed out on that experience. I have purchased Spell garments for a long time and was confident in their pieces. I wanted to be comfortable and whimsical looking on the day. My mother Jenni made the under skirt from Italian silk and Japanese lace. It is so precious. In a way I am glad that I didn’t stress over ‘picking the right dress’, but I am sad that I didn’t make the most of the ‘trying on the dress experience’. I would recommend every bride to take time out for that.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “We caught the MONA catamaran with our guests. Mingling with everyone before the wedding really helped to calm our nerves and made us feel super VIP. Walking down the aisle to beautiful, live classical music with dad was pretty special. Our ceremony was a whirlwind although it felt like time stopped and we really enjoyed being surrounded by people that love us.”

STANDOUT VENDORSJon Gazzignato, our photographer, was outstanding. We really connected with him and he made us feel really relaxed- we had the most fun wandering around MONA after hours taking photos. Jon has taken the most wonderful photos of our day- we will treasure them forever. Shelley our event coordinator from MONA is the most wonderful person, she had many suggestions and she really understood our vibe. All of the staff were lovely to work with – kind, caring, professional and excited for us. MONA is a hive of creativity- we love it. Ben (Routleys Manager) took the best care of us including Ron (father of the bride). Our suits were beautiful Italian linen, tailored and prepped with utmost care.”
