A clever couple to boot (we’re talkin’ lawyer and engineer here peeps), not to mention quirky, these lovebirds had the wedding of their dreams with 13 of their nearest and dearest and loved every minute. Aidan proposed with a Kinder Surprise and their reception was a dance between the Conservatory, Holey Moley and Kingpin at Crown Melbourne, so we knew they were fun from the start. You can read the rest of their story and see the pics from their epic wedding by Gold and Grit Photography below…

THE VIBE “Neither of us are ones for big public displays of affection, being the centre of attention or big events. We knew that we didn’t want to have a traditional “wedding” with a traditional ceremony or reception. We wanted the day to be simple and relaxed, and wanted to focus on things that we would enjoy doing with our family anyway – eating a bunch of really good food and then having some silly fun afterwards.”

DIY “I (the bride) did my own makeup. Makeup is a real passion of mine and I know the way I like to look so it was easy to do my own.”

THE DRESSDolce & Gabbana is one of my favourite brands, so I am always browsing through their website to keep up to date with their newest designs. I really loved the peony print (it caught my eye right away) and thought that the dress’s elegant silhouette and longer sleeves and hem would be perfect for our simple Spring wedding. It was lucky that I was able to purchase the dress in the end – they only had one size left and it just happened to be mine.”

REFERENCES “We found Stina from Gold and Grit Photography through google. We knew we wanted a photographer who focused on candid photos rather than overly stylised shots and so started our search on that basis. We saw Stina’s portfolio and immediately fell in love with her previous work.”

LITTLE LOL “I accidentally told my whole family that we were getting married at Town Hall. On the day of the wedding, it was about twenty minutes before our wedding was due to begin, and my family had not yet arrived. I was starting to get worried, so I called them to find out what was going on. Of course, they had almost arrived at the Town Hall! I had to awkwardly tell them that we were actually getting married at the Registry Office which was quite a few blocks away. Luckily they made it in the nick of time. Whoops…”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Stina from Gold and Grit Photography was amazing. All of our photos are beautiful and exactly what we wanted. She was also super professional and gave us a lot of help on the day. She was really funny and kept all of our guests in high spirits. Everyone commented on how wonderful she was.”
