THE VIBE “We wanted the day to feel relaxed and the get ready, too. I wanted to look like myself so we didn’t get professional hair and makeup. It was the best way to just feel like a girlie morning, sharing makeup, curling tongs and deciding on accessories on the day… All of course with a glass of champagne and no one to tell us when we needed to have it done by!”
FAVE DETAILS “My mum made the cake – she is an incredible cook and home baker and everyone loved it! Our talented friends organised all the music and it was perfect! Doug played all of our favourite songs live during the ceremony and MASH (Mark and Ash) DJ’d the evening, we didn’t need to give any direction on music as we knew they would get it right.”
THE DRESS “I love a good reason to splash out and treat myself but could not get my head around buying one of my most favorite outfits to wear for only one day. So six months into our engagement, I decided to make my own outfit to look ‘wow’ on the day but also with the ability to be dressed differently to wear again. The project to create my dress turned into a full collection (Lilia Cass Ceremonial) of minimal bridal separates, designed to mix, match and layer. All of my sampling for the collection was in different colours for my bridesmaids to wear.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “We did a reveal before the ceremony and took all the photos before the reception so we didn’t have to leave and also to calm the nerves.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Hire a wedding planner. We decided we didn’t need one because the day was so casual but this is my biggest regret. Although we had so much help from family and friends to set up and manage the day, I completely underestimated how much time it takes to instruct on every detail and the amount of details that weren’t considered until the day.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “The catering by No Biggie Food was everything we wanted and more. Seamless, lovely service and everything was delicious. Food is a top priority for us, our friends and family. Walk and Fork style was the perfect way to keep the day relaxed and no seating plans were required.”
