Queenstown weddings do things to our heart. Something about those rugged peaks and expansive lakes – a wedding photographers paradise. Leona and Jason popped an Art Deco spin on this beautiful scenery, making this wedding just about irresistible. From the dark and moody blooms to the bride’s beaded gown, we are feeling it from our head to our toes. Scroll all the way down to catch Francine Boer Photography’s captures…
THE VIBE “We wanted to not make a big show out of it, we just wanted to enjoy the day with our family and neither of us feel comfortable being centre of attention so we kept it really small. I’ve always enjoyed an Art Deco vibe so just added details here and there that felt old-worldy, like my flowers dress and arch.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “My flowers were a mix of fresh and dried flowers. I sent Gypsy a photo of my dress and gave her complete creative control! She did not disappoint. I cried when I saw them, so overwhelmed by how beautiful they were and we still have them. My dress was obviously the big one, I’ve had two babies and that dress felt like it was made for me. I loved the beading and the weight, the way it supported me underneath with inbuilt shapewear! So beautifully crafted, it made me transform.”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “My biggest dread was walking down the ‘aisle’. It was a fair distance and I was really nervous to be stared at by everyone. But in the end, my three year old spotted me and sprinted up to me, and said “Oh mummy! You’re so beautiful!! You’re like a princess!” I laughed, and she walked with my dad and I the whole way down. It was so special. Then when I finally caught my husband’s gaze, he looked at me in a way he’d never done before. I’ll never forget the look on his face, like the first moment I saw him.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Buckle up kids, you’re not going to please everyone and that’s ok! Pick your venue first and be really really sure. Like really sure, don’t have doubts. If there are doubts, keep looking. Be realistic with your budget. Choose an excellent photographer because you will want to relive it. Make sure you vibe with your celebrant. Listen to your fiance. Talk it through and see what they feel comfortable with.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “I’m so glad we let my mother take over. Our kids are young and I work full time so it was a lot. I tried, but made a mess of it and realised as long as she respected the small wedding thing, she knows what she’s doing. She nailed it. I know that won’t be the case for most people but I have no regrets. We loved our day. It was the BEST day.”
