Lauren and Justin had been together for nine years when they decided to tie the knot after a (coincidental) nine-month engagement. Justin proposed to Lauren in their new home that they had created together. The couple opted for a sweet coastal wedding with the bride stunning guests with her Spell and the Gypsy Collective gown. THE VENUE “We were always pretty set on our venue. Lauren grew up in Redhead and it has become one of our favourite places with a strong family connection. We didn’t actually look at any others!”

THE VIBE “We absolutely loved the colour grading that Alex (our photographer) uses, so we kind of let that guide us. It was a ‘forest feel, by the beach’ theme (that’s totally made up!). We didn’t want our bridal party matching either, so we just said “Here’s the colour palette we’re going for…..wear whatever you would like!” and they absolutely nailed it, even though the boys decided what they were wearing the day of the wedding!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our Celebrant Becky was truly wonderful, we had so many comments on how light and fun she made it. She also made it so easy for us and allowed us to tailor the ceremony to what we wanted. Our band Uptown were also amazing. We wanted a really chilled out wedding with a party band and lots of dancing and that’s exactly what they gave us!”

DIY…“We are kind of known as a DIY couple but I (Lauren) was definitely reined in by the family for this occasion. Apparently making your own wedding cake is too stressful a task for your own wedding! But we still got in a few things like doing our own bouquets, which I wouldn’t have done any other way! “

THE DRESS “Dress hunting is a little tricky when you don’t want a traditional wedding dress but you want to give your Mum the experience of being there when you try some on. I actually stopped in at my sister’s near Byron Bay, where Mum and Dad were also visiting. Mum picked me up from the airport and said we had an appointment at Spell and the Gypsy Collective. I still didn’t have a dress at this point and it was the beginning of July so I thought ‘why not’. When we arrived we were lead upstairs to their beautiful bridal area, where they had prepared a selection of dresses in my size to the specifics Mum had requested. From that moment, it was the experience Mum had dreamt of, and the experience I needed to get me into the bride zone. We took the dress home that day.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Alex from Third Wheelin’ Co Photography really stood out to us. It was the little things he did like as he was leaving, seeking out all the bridal party to say goodbye and thanks for a great day, to sending us our photos while we were still on our honeymoon because he knew that would be a special place and time to see them together.”
