Ooft, we are loving hard on this elopement, friends, brought to you by the lovely Lauren and Elliott – who admit they had a hard time keeping the whole thang on the DL! “As we were eloping, we had to keep things secret from our friends and family. We almost got caught out so many times!” Lauren tells us. “First when my dress arrived and was hanging in a dress bag in my closet while my little sister riffled through my closet trying to find an outfit to borrow. Then again when Elliott and I told our families two different lies about our trip away – Elliott told them we were going to the beach to enjoy the warm weather before winter came and I told them we were heading to the country for Elliott’s birthday. Surprisingly, we made it to our big day without letting our secret slip!”

This pair packed up their prettiest clothes (the bride, a sheer mini; the groom, some classic M.J. Bale), asked Daniel Chafer to come on down with his camera, and said ‘I do’ – just the two of them – on a beautiful property in Imbil, Queensland.

THE VENUE “We originally stayed at our venue, Miranda Downs Stylish Country Cabin, right after we got engaged, so we had very special memories of enjoying that newly engaged excitement there. The cabin itself was so beautiful and simple, surrounded by paddocks but fully enclosed so our pup could wander safely. The sky at night was lit up with stars and the firepit was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the quiet country sounds.”

FAVE DETAILS “We loved the flowers by Fifth Avenue Florist, they were absolutely gorgeous and matched the dreamy vibe we wanted! Our dog statue by YLutsenko, which we had made to put with the cake, was also so cute and looked so incredibly like her.”

DIY “After our elopement, we wanted to surprise our family with polaroid photos inside envelopes. We used the Instax Mini Link Printer to print our first kiss photos straight from our phones. We then used the Cricut Joy machine to cut ‘Just Married’ vinyl stickers and stick them on the bottom of the polaroids. It was so simple, but our families thought it was a great way to receive the news and a very special favour for them to keep.”

THE SUIT “I knew I wanted a light-coloured suit as I wanted something different to the usual darker suits I have worn to work or friends’ weddings. I opted for the jacket and pants at M.J. Bale because they were so simple and needed such little tailoring. When we found a lead and collar from St Argo for our dog in the same shade, I knew it was the right call.”

LITTLE LOL “When it came time to put the rings on, Elliott dropped mine and the dog almost ate it! Then when I had to put Elliott’s ring on… it didn’t quite fit and had to be squeezed on.”

STANDOUT VENDORSThe Elopement Collective team – Josh Withers led our ceremony so intentionally and we were so grateful for his support. Daniel Chafer, our photographer, brought such a great vibe to help make our photos fun and natural. We couldn’t believe how incredible the pics were and how quickly we received them.”
