Despite the bride saying the pair wanted to keep their day simple, and not embark on any large DIY’s, Laura and Ben’s intimate wedding included some rather impressive self made goodies. “Laura’s Dad made the archway from wood on the property the day before the wedding…he also made the fire-pit from an old drum and restored some old furniture,” whilst Laura and her mum made two of the cakes (not a bad effort)!

The duo opted for a low key day on the bride’s family property in Bingie, NSW, “we wanted the overall vibe to be relaxed, reflect us as a couple and fit in with the natural beauty of the surroundings,” said the pair, who enlisted the help of Nichole of Folklore & Co. to make their floral dreams come true! “I absolutely loved my bouquet, cake decorations and hair piece. I’ve always loved native flowers and Nicole used them perfectly with such a beautiful result.”

There to capture the day was HM fave, Benjamin Sowry, who the pair agree did an incredible job. “He was so happy to be there, enthusiastic and relaxed. We were both so happy he could be our photographer and everyone took a fast liking to him. We were both concerned about having to £pose— for photographs however Ben quickly put us both at ease and the majority of the time we didn’t realise he was even taking pictures.”

Choosing to forgo many of the traditional wedding dos, Laura and Ben did include a rather lovely ceremonial touch, “we did a wine in the box’ where we got everyone to write a note with a little message or word of advice about marriage and sealed it in a box with wine to open on a future anniversary.”

After trying on a number of gowns from a wedding boutique, Laura realised she was after something a little less ‘bridal’. Instead she opted for a stunning Zimmermann frock, the bride adding “I loved wearing my dress, felt really comfortable and felt that it fit in with the vibe of the day.”
