You don’t get much more romantic than a proposal involving a ring hidden deep within the pages of a hardcover copy of Wuthering Heights, do you? We think not! “On the front page was a personal message, which concluded with telling me to turn the pages of the book to see what the next chapter of our life could be,” explains the bride, who wore Spell & The Gypsy Collective. “As I turned the pages, I came to a section where they were cut out and my ring was laid in there.” Add the super intimate setting (we’re talking, only eight guests here), and a photographer brought in from Sydney, and romantic is an understatement. THE VENUE “I gave Jules a short brief. For us to marry in Australia, to be surrounded by nature, a house where we and the family could all stay, a romantic setting, and to have the beach at our doorstep. Thalia Haven in Tasmania ticked all the boxes! We’d always wanted to go to Tasmania, so this way we could explore Tassie and get married at the same time.”

THE THEME “We wanted to create a laid-back, romantic day, and weave soft blues, greens, peaches and pinks into the decoration. The inspiration for the day was us and our passions. I’m a hopeless romantic, and Jules and I both love exploring nature. We wanted lots of flowers, soft lighting, natural fabrics and to have as much of the day as we could, outside, by the sea.”

FAVOURITE DETAIL “The favours. Each guest had a different crystal, handpicked by m, that was connected to their life in some way. The crystals were placed at the table with a handwritten card which explained their powers and doubled as a place card.”

THE DRESS “It was from Spell & The Gypsy Collective. I cried when I put it on! It just fit so effortlessly and felt like it was made for me. I love Spell and stumbled across their bridal collection. I ordered a couple of their dresses online, got a group of nine of my girlfriends in a room, and after lots of laughter and cries of excitement, we all agreed it was the one!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Just after we got married, our photographer took Jules and I down to the beach. The sun came out and the wind dropped, I could feel the sand below my bare feet and it felt so perfect. It was very special to have this intimate time on our own now as husband and wife.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We spent a long time looking for caterers that aligned with our values, a team that could create amazing food, using quality and ethical ingredients and we couldn’t have found a better team! The food was so incredible and such a big part of the day for us all. The guests were blown away by the quality. Damien Milan Photography were also amazing, incredibly talented and friendly. For a small group, we questioned whether if we were being too extravagant hiring a team to fly over from Sydney, but they made it all so easy and the pictures speak for themselves; we are really glad we made this decision as we now have pictures we can treasure for a lifetime.”
