Hot take: Tasmania might just be THE romance state. Because when it comes to top-tier, effortlessly romantic wedding, Tassie seems to deliver every time. Take Kaitlyn and Liam’s “old meets new” I do’s for instance, captured by Jon Gazzignato. These two tied the knot at Vaucluse Estate in the rural town of Conara. Not a bad way to mark 10 years together if you ask us. “Every year Liam organises roses, with the number of years we’ve been together,” the bride shares. “For our wedding day, he organised with our florist, Emma from Murphy Bloom, a bouquet of 10 roses with a handwritten note. It was the sweetest gift.” CUTE.
Bloody good ‘fits (feat. M.J. Bale), good tunes (feat. Good Charlotte), and good ol’ Tassie hospitality. What’s not to love? Get swept away by Kaitlyn and Liam’s day below.
THE VIBE “I took inspiration from Sophia Richie’s wedding, not only the ‘old meets new’ with minimalist décor, but we [also] wanted to replicate the after-hours / dancefloor vibe. The dancefloor even kicked off with Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous by Good Charlotte.”
LITTLE LOL “We were deciding whether or not to have an open bar or drink by consumption. Our friends can drink a lot, so Liam made a spreadsheet with drink allocations. The spreadsheet was shared with the bridesmaids for oversight. They thought it was hilarious, so they shared the document with our MCs, and it became a very large joke of the night, where guests had to stand up to acknowledge their allocated drink amount. Stickers with the number ‘15’ were handed out to specific guests. Safe to say, we are lucky we went with the open bar.”
FAVE DETAILS “We had a moment with our bridal party and parents before greeting our wedding guests. We organised to meet straight after the ceremony in the main sitting area at Vaucluse Estate with a beautiful feature fireplace. As we signed our wedding certificate with our parents, our chef Jimi from Season and Fire brought in margaritas and canapes. It felt like a really relaxed, intimate moment with our closest friends. Our signage from Paige Tuzee Designs was perfect. Paige got the vision from the moment we started planning the wedding. We took care to ensure that every sign or piece of communication to our wedding guests fit the theme of the day. Our menus [were inspired by] Bar Bambi in Melbourne. They made you feel like you were having a late-night dining experience with a touch of personalisation, with each guest’s name on the menu. Lastly, we really wanted to make sure our guests had the full Tasmanian experience. Jimi from Season and Fire did a speech to our guests, [sharing memories and his passion for food,] prior to serving dinner. This was a stand-out moment for our friends and family who had mostly travelled from WA and had never visited Tassie before. We received so many amazing compliments about the food, which was one of the elements I really wanted to get right for our special day.”
CUTE CUSTOM “Weirdly, we have played this family game called ‘pass the pigs’, which is why in some photos you will see a giant inflatable version of that game! We play it every time the family is together, so it was great to incorporate the pigs on the wedding dance floor.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “To be honest, all of our vendors went above and beyond. I think it’s a Tassie thing. Everyone wants you to celebrate everything that Tasmania has to offer.”
