When Julia and Kieran first starting planning their day, they received a fundamental piece of advice from the bride’s mum which inspired their relaxed and intimate day (first featured in issue 14, now available for purchas online). “She said ‘the key to a memorable and enjoyable wedding is all about the right atmosphere, good food, good wine and music to dance to’, so we focused on these key elements and built our wedding up around them. It had to embody our passion and love for one another and for our family and friends.”

With fabulous foliage draped from the ceiling thanks to Rose Apple Flowers, huge Italian food share plates that encourages people to mingle while they munched, silky smooth live acoustic tunes and warm lighting, the pair (with the help of stylist Victoria Cameron) were able to create a celebration that exuded their vibe of ‘ethereal elegance’.

With the food, booze and decor ticked off the to-do list (thanks to the wonders of Graze Catering and The Cake That Ate Paris and a bevy of fab furniture and prop vendors), Julia and Kieran were able to focus on one of the other imperative parts of their love fest. “Kieran is a pretty amazing dancer so we knew the music was going to play an integral role in our day. It became a tradition in our house to drink wine and dance around our room listening to Spotify on a Friday night, rediscovering old tunes and Snapchat-ing his moves to all of our friends,” explains Julia, adding that they utilised their super talented loved ones to take care of the invitations as well as the entertainment.

“Julia’s uncle sang an acoustic version of the song we chose for our first dance. A couple of our guests joined in, until he expertly transitioned into Unchained Melody’ and it felt like every guest jumped out of their seats to join us on the dance floor. It was a very intimate and special moment filled with lots of love and laughter. The whole day had personal touches from the important people in our lives, some delivering speeches that had everyone in hysterics.”

Captured by photographer Dan O’Day and his “effervescent and vibrant” personality, it was alongside some of the industry’s best that Julia and Kieran were able to take their vows (which may’ve been along the lines of always having someone to watch 90’s thrillers with, travelling the world, everlasting memories and an empire of fur babies). Having conquered the wild world of weddings, these lovers leave future knot-tiers with this advice: “It’s so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind nature of the event that you forget to breathe and focus on what the day means to you and your husband/wife. Just simply have fun and enjoy the process, we tried not to get too wrapped up in the wedding fever and had complete and total trust in our vendors. Your wedding will be the best day of your lives!”
