It’s super tricky to pick a favourite element of Jess & Chris’ wedding day, guys. Jess’ midi dress (paired with lush LolaKnight earrings) is giving us life, the clouds of pink and white baby’s breath is a treat for our eyes and the spotty bridesmaid dresses are a dream. But all this didn’t just come together of its own accord. Jess shared her little hot tip with us, “I used photoshop to see all of the elements together to see if they looked good, e.g. bridesmaid dresses, flowers, my dress, the table settings, and so on. It was so useful.” A woman after our own heart. Add some Larsen rings and Elsa Campbell behind the lens and you’ve got this couple’s absolutely killer day. Scroll down for more details…

FAVOURITE DETAILS “It was all in the details. One of my favourite things was the pink gyp cloud archway [Honesty Flora]. It was so romantic and soft. I also loved the linen from Table Art, it made the tables look so inviting and made a huge impact. I think a lot of people probably think that the smaller details are less important and that no one notices them, but for us, it was all of those details that added up to the whole day being quite magical.”

THE DRESS “My dress was a hilarious series of unfortunate events. I originally found it on the outnet US, and loved it but wasn’t sure if it would look ‘fancy’ enough. So I hunted high and low to find another bride who had worn it to see if it would work, and eventually found a beautiful wedding where the bride wore it and looked incredible. After realizing this was ‘the one’, I ordered it to be sent to a friend in San Francisco (as the US outnet doesn’t ship to Australia) and had them send it to Melbourne, but found out after it was sent that the postage was approximately five times the price of the dress! Sunk cost I suppose? That was the first mishap. The second was that I took it to get altered, and didn’t pay enough attention when I was trying it on. A few weeks before the wedding I tried it on again and realized the alterations had not worked that well and it no longer fit around the neck. So I searched online once again but could only find one ebay listing from 2019, in my size, that had expired. I messaged the seller without much hope, and somehow they still had the dress! With just two weeks to go I bought it, got it altered for a second time, and it all worked out … just.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Take your time making decisions and choosing your vendors. I think when you first start it can seem so overwhelming and you just want to lock everything in but choose carefully! The big-ticket items like venue and photographer are absolutely crucial in the day coming together how you want it to. Have a look at wedding blogs and magazines, as well as other weddings at your venue, and start to see what vendors the ones you like best have used.”

WE WISH  WE “I do wish we started getting ready earlier, which was on me. I was convinced hair and makeup wouldn’t take that long, but my bridesmaids had these intricate braids that took quite a long time, and we were supposed to be ready when Elsa and Ryan arrived but I hadn’t even started makeup yet. So there was a little bit of stress trying to rush to the bar to meet the guys, but it was fine in the end.”

STANDOUT VENDORSElsa Campbell! She absolutely exceeded all expectations and I cannot be more grateful that we managed to get her. Her photos are candid and genuine and give you a ‘feeling’ about that moment that’s hard to put in words. They are dreamy and light and soft and magical. She’s also so lovely to work with, offering lots of advice about how to handle COVID restrictions, where the best photo ops are, what the best timing will be, and more.”
