For this lovely couple, their aim was for a “super chilled and easy wedding,” says the bride. “Nothing formal, just a big celebration with our friends and family.” She almost got away with it too, until she got sunburnt a few days before the wedding!  “It was a bride’s worst nightmare, but I wasn’t going to let it stress me out!” Besides, nothing was going to take away from that gorgeous Grace Loves Lace gown…  Thanks to Tyler Brown Photography, you can check it out below…

LITTLE LOL “It wasn’t funny at the time, but I guess I can look back at it and try and laugh. Beau and I were at the venue on the Thursday unpacking the truck and setting up the furniture and festoon lighting. We spent the whole day outside and I spent the day up a ladder with my face up to the sun, screwing in all the bulbs. By the time I got home I was a beetroot- my face and chest were completely red raw with sunburn! It took two spraytans, endless aloe and magical makeup application to cover up the burn!”

DIY “We tried to do a lot of the wedding ourselves. I had friends and family helping us out the whole way along. From the cake to our makeup and decorating the venue, we had a friend make our arbour, did our own grazing board and lighting and made our wedding favours.  I loved the personal touches. It meant so much more to us and made the day even more special that we could do so much of it ourselves!”

THE DRESS “My dress still makes me swoon! I’m not a bridey-bride and didn’t really enjoy the whole wedding dress thing! I just wanted something very simple- to be an effortless bride. You know, the bride that can just throw on sexy slip and saunter down the aisle looking effervescent? That’s what I wanted to be! Although, I’m a curvier girl, so that was never going to work for me! I’d always loved Grace Loves Lace, and when a great flight deal came along, my mum and I headed away for a girls weekend in QLD. The experience was so wonderful! The girls were so lovely and the shop was everything I dreamed of! Whimsical and sexy and super relaxed! It was the first dress I tried on there and we all knew it was ‘the one’ straight away!”

REFERENCES “I used Instagram to find a lot of my vendors and obsessed over Hello May for inspo!”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Take a deep breath and BREATHE!! oh and spreadsheets! One can never have enough spreadsheets!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Tyler Brown, is one of the coolest dudes we have ever met! Such a great guy and so bloody warm and friendly! We also LOVED our Celebrant Carla Patterson, who also runs the Billiecart Bar-a-Van we used- she was just a beautiful soul. It was also unbelievably special that our wedding was one of the first weddings on the day that the Gay Marriage law was passed! It was a day of Australian history and our wedding got to be apart of that!”
