We all know how the saying goes, ‘never work with children or animals,’ and yet that is exactly what Jenna and Adam did at their ceremony. ” We had two flower girls, two page boys and two dogs in the wedding. The day before, we had a rehearsal and it was really chaotic. Everyone thought it was going to be crazy on the day, but everything thing was perfect and the dogs and kids were all very well behaved!” Involving a host of recommended vendors (say hi Cushla Whiting and Calibre) and caught on camera by one of our fave photographers, Ephemeral Creative, it was bound to be a good wedding! THE VENUE “We really wanted somewhere that we could do everything in the one place. We also wanted the whole wedding outdoors and to be surrounded by nature. On site accommodation and camping was also important to us. We looked at three places and as soon as we saw Yabbaloumba Retreat we knew it was perfect for us. The property is absolutely stunning. They also have big barn which is a great wet weather back up.”
THE VIBE “We had a bit of a colourful boho theme. It was a relaxed, festival vibe. We wanted everyone to feel relaxed and comfortable we didn’t have a seating plan. We had a serve yourself buffet and everyone could sit where they like. Also lots and lots of dancing!”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “The lighting and the styling. Everyone thought I was crazy with the amount of fairly lights I wanted, but they looked amazing. The Boho Sisters did an awesome job with the styling- there were colourful cushions and rugs everywhere. When we walked in after the photos everyone was chilling on the rugs and it looked great!”
DIY “Yes! All the fairly lights were hung by the the boys and there were a lot! Photo booth, sparkle station… we also made the bridesmaids bouquets with foliage from the property, signs were written by a friend.”
THE DRESS “I ended up getting my dress made from D’Italia. I tried on heaps of dresses and I couldn’t find anything perfect. It took about three months before I decided to get it made. It was hard finding something perfect for my body shape. A week before the wedding, I decided I wanted something a bit more comfortable for the dance floor, so I ordered the Duster dress from Spell Bride. It arrived in time and was perfect for busting a move.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Got a video. Adam originally didn’t want one. I talked him into it (Josue Films) and we are both so happy we did.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographers, Ephemeral Creative, and our Videographer Dave from Josue Films were all superstars on the day. The were so easy to work with and made us feel very relaxed. We hardly noticed they were there most of the time. On top of being incredible at their craft they are all the nicest people. We had comments from a lot of our guests about how lovely they were. The Boho Sisters also did a stand out job when we walked into the party, we were blown away, everything looked so beautiful!! They were also amazing to work with in the lead up to the wedding. The styling really created the whole vibe for the wedding it was perfect! And our Dj Aaron from Cut a Rug was amazing- he had the dance floor pumping all night!”
