Say hi to the whirlwind that is Jen and Lachie, guys. And we say that in the very best way. We’ll let the bride explain… “It took three dates over four months and a flight to Melbourne to convince me to say yes to being Lachlan’s girlfriend, then a fourth date to his sister’s wedding. From then, it only took me two weeks to quit my job and move back to Adelaide to be with him. Twelve months later, we were on a one-way flight to London and stayed for over two years. THE VENUE “We knew we wanted something that reminded us of the UK and didn’t want a winery. We had heard of The Manor before it was renovated and it was the only venue we looked at. As soon as we walked through the garden in front of the tiny chapel, it took us back to traveling around the UK.”
THE VIBE “We wanted not much fuss and not too traditional – eclectic meets mid century. The red vesper was Lachlan’s cousin’s and riding into the reception on it with cans on the back and the horn blaring from a different door than everyone expected us was the best surprise we had for our guests, everyone roared with laughter!”
LITTLE LOL “I crashed my car two days before the wedding on the way to pick up my dress. My car was actually Lachlan’s Grandmother’s and we hadn’t finished paying it off yet. I was fine (as was the car) and the Police Officer calmed me down, telling me I’m still going to marry the man of my dreams in my dress… right after he’d finished his paperwork. After a drink at the wedding, I told his whole family but not the Grandma!”
THE DRESS “My sister lives in LA and I knew two stores there I wanted to try on dresses. It was a rare occasion for us to be together as my mum was visiting too. I ended up with Alexandra Grecco and from before I was engaged, I knew I had to have a pearled belt. And at Lovely in LA the assistants got me to try a detachable skirt for that real wow factor I wanted in my photos. It all came together perfectly.”
KEY VENDORS “Our makeup artist and photographer both fell through after we booked them. It was when we were given suggestions from those vendors that I knew it happened for a reason. Alannah’s website was what made me scream ‘BOOK HER!’ the day we spoke I loved her and her work.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “It’s hard at the time to realise that the most important part of the day isn’t how your hair sits, or if the entrée went out on time, but you have just started the best part of your life together, bad hair or not.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… Did the Vespa! It was hard work and very last minute. It had been sitting idle in a shed for two years so needed to get it serviced. It was also a challenge to transport it up to the venue.
STANDOUT VENDORS Naomi, the Event Manager from The Manor is a real life angel. She went above and beyond, thinking of all the things we forgot. From feeding our bridal party on the day, to setting up the newlyweds’ suit with rose petals, a hot bath and champagne on ice.
