Hannah and Ryan know how to have a good time, guys. They decided their wedding week was going to be one for the books by gathering 24 of their best friends together for one heck of a sleepover. Scroll down for fun galore and snaps by HM fave Luke Going Photography

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Ryan’s favourite detail was the whiskey ‘speakeasy’ bar hidden in the pandanus palm trees that ‘opened’ after sunset. It included a range of different whiskies, beautiful glasses and ice, topped off with a range of cigars brought back from the US. It ended up being a very popular area to hang out across the night!”

REFERENCES “My main source of research was genuinely the Hello May website. I was (and actually still am) absolutely obsessed with the ‘Real Weddings’ section which I would religiously check every couple of days. I loved how I could draw inspiration from other weddings and also gain an understanding of the vendors used at the bottom of each article. I found my amazing photographer Luke Going through this process! Every time I saw a set of amazing photos on the Real Weddings part of the website I would scroll to the bottom and it was always Luke!”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “I am part of an all-girls (including trans/non-binary) community choir called The Sistergood. Many of the girls from the choir have become my very close friends over time. The girls from the choir, combined with some of my other close friends and family who love to sing (and my brother on guitar), spent weeks learning ‘Heavenly Father’ by Bon Iver in order to sing me down the aisle on my special day. It was truly the most memorable moment of my life and they sounded like absolute angels sent from heaven above! There was not a dry eye in the house.”

LITTLE LOL “What topped off the night was the fact that Ryan spilt a whole glass of red wine over his white shirt at about 9 pm. The whole time following the wedding he has claimed someone else spilt the red wine on him until Luke sent us the photos from the day and, being the amazing man he is, captured Ryan right at the moment that he spilt the red wine all over himself! Gold! He has now had to backtrack and admit defeat.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Buy a perfume that you wear for the first time on your day. Each time you spray it in future you will be transported back to the day as memory and scent are closely connected.”

STANDOUT VENDOR “My dress designer/creator, Paul Cowley. He is the most remarkable man. He is fun, classy, has exceptional taste and was a dream to work with. At the start of the process, he warned me that it was going to be effortless, fun and easy. I didn’t believe him to start with but that is exactly what it turned out to be. He created the most beautiful masterpiece and even today I can’t stop looking at my beautiful dress.”

This exceptional day was first published in our 2019 Real Wedding Special. Hop on to our online store to snag a copy for yourself. We are even throwing in a bonus issue for you groovy peeps.
