It was a beaut summer’s day in Melbourne when Georgia and James said ‘I do’. This dapper duo (the bride in Alba + Stardust, the groom sporting M.J. Bale) envisioned a “big party” oozing with “old-school Melbourne charm”. Naughtons Hotel in Parkville ticked all the boxes, nestled between tree-lined streets and bursting with character.
Below, Georgia and James take us behind the scenes, sharing highlight moments, meaningful details, and one positively glowing testimonial for Jess Nicholls (responsible for this A+ wedding album). Scroll on, friends and fiancés!
THE VIBE “We wanted for our wedding to be a modern, fun and relaxed celebration. We weren’t fussed about following traditional wedding expectations. We wanted to feel relaxed and have as much fun as our guests! We wanted our wedding to have an old-school Melbourne charm feel to it.”
FAVE DETAILS “We loved that our invites, cake and flowers had a fun and modern feel. We downloaded the super fun illustrations from Pipi Printables, and a talented friend from work illustrated the image of Naughtons Hotel. We used the images for our invites and welcome sign. The cake was made by my sister’s best friend, and we used a golden retriever cake topper to include our dog, Baz. Urban Antidote put together the most stunning green and white bar flower arrangement and bouquet.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “We were both very nervous on the day, and felt really keen for the first look to settle our nerves. Having our immediate family and wedding party watch as we turned to finally see each other was so special! The ceremony was definitely another highlight. It was so easy, relaxed and fun. We were blown away by the care and creativity of the speeches from each of our fathers, Georgia’s two best friends Amanda and Sian and James’ best friend Ethan. Another highlight was having both our grandmas as our witnesses. We loved having them involved in the day, and the photos and their signatures on our certificate are so important to us.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “Someone who went above and beyond and made a big impact on our day was Jess Nicholls, our photographer! She instantly made everyone feel at easy with her dry sense of humour and the way she yelled “f**k yeah” when she got the shot! You could tell Jess genuinely loved being a part of our most special day. She made everything so much more fun and kept the vibes high! When Jess was giving us directions, she kept saying, ‘You’ll hate me today and love me tomorrow’. We loved her on the day, and we loved her even more when we saw the final product! We couldn’t recommend Jess highly enough.”
