It was a rainy spring day in Sydney when Brendan, Erin, and 28 of their favourite humans sought shelter at Bennelong restaurant (within of the Sydney Opera House) to celebrate the lovers’ wedding.
The bridal party was as sophisticated as they come –the bride in a minimalist Made With Love number, bridesmaid by her side in Bec + Bridge and the guys in InStitchu.
To capture their intimate lunch-time soirée, these two made a great call bringing photographer Matt Ashton on board. And if you’re wondering if a micro wedding is something these newlyweds would recommend, the answer would be 100 per cent! “It really was the most intimate and magical day,” they share, “We could have in-depth conversations with all the guests, making it feel special not only for them, but for us also.”
Small in size, but bursting with love (and inspo), dive into Brendan and Erin’s day below.
THE VIBE “We really wanted a classic, simple, chic and minimal wedding. As the reception was at lunchtime, I thought that vibe matched perfectly. We wanted our musicians to sing classic and known songs, not super lovey songs, e.g. Fleetwood Mac vibes.”
LITTLE LOL “We were glued to the weather radar for weeks leading up to the big day! Early in the month, the forecast looked perfect, but a week before the wedding, it did a 180 and changed to a 90% chance of rain. This forced us to change our ceremony location from the Botanic Gardens. Luckily, Bennelong was an incredible backup, and we wouldn’t change it for the world!”
THE DRESS “My dress was the Audrey dress from Made With Love Bridal, which I paired with the Sofia Veil. After trying about five different dresses with no luck, the assistant mentioned a new, unreleased dress they’d just used in a photoshoot called the Audrey dress. I tried it on and instantly loved it. It was perfect; not too much, but enough to feel special. It suited our daytime restaurant wedding and made me feel beautiful.”
THE SUIT “When I was putting together my suit, I wanted it to be timeless and match the theme of ‘modern classic’. This is why I went with InStitchu. I chose a cotton blend, silk lapelled tuxedo. For the trousers, I wore a beltless waist with Saturn black shoes. I found InStitchu [when I was] a groomsman for a good friend, and having a fantastic experience with them, I couldn’t see myself going with anyone else. I had a great experience with Sedina at [the Clarence Street, Sydney store]. She was extremely helpful and was confident in assisting me in tailoring my wedding suit.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Walking down the aisle was such a beautiful moment for me. Sharing that with my dad, seeing everyone’s reaction, then seeing my future husband at the end of the aisle. All my nerves went away as soon as the music began playing.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “We really loved the laid-back vibe that Matt, our photographer and Jess, our content creator, gave off. It really suited our overall vibe for the day. They both blended into the crowd, capturing incredible moments without ever feeling intrusive. We also really adored our celebrant, Michelle; she is truly a beautiful soul, is well-spoken, and wrote a great ceremony speech.”
