For creatives, Emma (a graphic designer) and Nick (a photographer), being exposed to such beautiful inspo on the daily made it hard to settle on a direction for their wedding, “But once we did, we were pretty good at sticking to it,” says Nick, who was suited up by Oscar Hunt. Held at a stunning winery an-hour-and-a-half out of Melbourne with entertainment provided by the legends at Logan Ent., Emma and Nick’s weekend celebration went off without a hitch, and marked the fifth anniversary of their first date. Love that! One of our favourite duos She Takes Pictures, He Makes Films were there to document all those feelgood moments. We’ll let Emma and Nick fill you in on the best bits…

THE VIBE “It was very much ‘everything we want and nothing we don’t.’ For example, having a wedding cake wasn’t a priority to us, and neither was a dancefloor. We just wanted to have a lovely, long dinner with great food and great wine, and all our favourite people. It was all about creating a day that felt purely like us.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “While we were getting ready, Emma sent down two presents to my room, the first being a photo album of all our memories over the past five years. Instantly I was a blubbering mess. Attached to the second present was a note saying ‘now wipe those tears away, it’s time to celebrate!’ I opened the box and inside was a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila. She just knows me… I laughed my arse off, took a swig from the bottle and celebrate we did!”

THE SUIT “As it was a summer wedding, it was important to Nick that he was comfortable. He wanted a linen suit and only considered the guys at Oscar Hunt. As someone who leaves most important things to the last minute, he didn’t have much time, so it was the first place he went in person, and luckily found exactly what he wanted right away. The OH team were great to deal with.”

WE’RE REALLY GLAD WE… “Had the wedding at a venue like Mitchelton Wines where the ceremony, reception and accommodation was all in one spot. We didn’t have to waste the day travelling. We had the ceremony on the river, canapés on the lawn and the reception in the cellar, which were all such amazing and different experiences, yet everything was literally less than 100 metres away. All of our friends stayed at the hotel so the next morning we got to hang out poolside and have a big breakfast together.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All our suppliers were amazing. I loved the planning process with  Dani at Logan Ent. who was incredibly responsive and passionate. And Lucy and Alistair, our photographer/videographer team from She Takes Pictures, He Makes Films were incredible. From the moment we met them, they made us feel completely at ease. We are not a couple that typically takes a tonne of photos together, and we were both a little concerned that we would be quite awkward in front of the camera. But it was like they weren’t even there, and when they were, it was just like having two close friends in the room with us. I think the photos and video speak for themselves. We couldn’t be happier to have such beautiful memories of our wedding day.”
