Guys. Emma and Dan were so pumped to start married life together that they opted for a fleeting four-month engagement. FOUR months! “Having a short engagement allowed us to make decisions quickly and move on as it just needed to get done”, explains Emma. “It just so happened that we fell into the hands of some amazing vendors who made it all possible”, she adds. They found photographer, She Takes Pictures He Makes Films on the pages of Hello May and the lovely Lucy has provided the goods below. Scroll down to take a look…
THE VENUE “Given our desire for a quick turn around the venue search became pretty simple, we looked for venue’s available in March/April/May and then it basically found us. I loved Prunella’s venue Churchill in country Victoria but after it wouldn’t suit what we were hoping to achieve the team told me about their newest venue, Cadella Park. At this stage, it was still under construction, but we basically locked it in as soon as we saw the property. It helped that I instantly trusted Vanessa and Caris and knew their experience and style would deliver the most beautiful day.”
THE INSPO “I grew up in country Victoria and so did Dan, so we knew we wanted something outside the city and I was really drawn to the European farm feel that our venue provided. I’d say we’re both pretty traditional but the convenience of the ceremony and the reception at the same location set the vibe of a relaxed day for us and our guests.”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers that Prunella created were unbelievable and the rug that we got married on framed by the gigantic tree were some of my favourite details. We also loved the pop-up bar that kicked off straight after the ceremony and just allowed everyone to instantly enjoy themselves. All our guests are still talking about the food by Spoonful – wow there was so much of it and it was delicious, we did family-style share plates and had meze platters waiting for everyone when they walked into the reception.”
THE DRESS “Being in the TV industry I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing designers so I knew my beautiful friend Kyha (of KYHA) would make my dress. I trust her and love working with her and her team. It was a dream experience and I was so happy with the end result.”
KEY VENDORS “Most vendors I found through Instagram (I did a lot of Hello May Stalking) and once I locked in the venue they had a pretty solid team of vendors they work with consistently so it made everything very seamless. I discovered our photographer Lucy from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films via Hello May and then she was recommended by our venue Cadella Park as well so it was meant to be!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “The best thing you can do is to get vendors you trust and empower them to do what they do well. It’s the moments and the people and you remember most and you can’t enjoy them if you’re stressing about details you don’t need to be in. I never gave Prunella who did all our styling and flowers a brief, I didn’t even see anything until the night before and it was so exciting.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “I would say the one area not to skimp on is photography – we couldn’t be happier with our photos and we went with the nine-hour package so we got so many beautiful memories. The one thing we wish we had of organised is a small recovery/lunch the next day. We just wanted to relive it and were on such a high.”
