Together for four years, Emilie and Ruby have not one but two proposal stories… A couple of days before moving to the Gold Coast, Ruby proposed while walking their precious pup Lola. “Lola and I had a plan in place. We ducked behind some rocks on the river bank and when Lola popped out she had a bandana on that said, ‘Will you marry my mum?’. Emilie of course said YES, and then later proposed herself during a romantic picnic in Mount Tamborine. From there, they planned an epic destination wedding on the NSW south coast, which even included a flash tattoo station at the reception, with the “overall vibe being bright, colourful, retro and GAY” they share. The legends at Pia and Jade took care of the florals, styling and on-the-day stationery, and absolutely nailed the brief (so. bloody.good), while our friends at Maple and June were in charge of capturing all the beautiful moments from this day of days, which we’re sharing below…
THE VENUE “We firstly decided on the NSW South Coast as the destination for our wedding. From the moment we entered the grounds of Terara Riverside Gardens we knew there was something special in the air. The crisp green grass, the fruit trees, the river and the magical greenhouse… we knew it had everything we wanted for our wedding and more. Once we met the owners, we were settled, this would be our venue and of course our precious dachshund Lola was welcomed – she had to be part of our day.”
FAVE DETAILS “The styling and the stunning florals from Pia and Jade. And how we included our pets ºwe had their faces on drink stirrers, cocktails named after them and they featured on some of our favours too!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Choose good vendors that you can trust because on the day it’s up to them to do their thang!”
THE DRESSES Ruby “I knew I wanted my dress from Made With Love so this was the first place I went to with Mum. I tried on four or five dresses before they pulled out one from their upcoming collection. When they held it up I was unsure… it wasn’t like the other dresses I had tried on but once I put it on I knew it was the one! I truly felt like a bride. It was all done and dusted in an hour.”
Emilie “In true form, I left the dress shopping till 12 weeks before, I visited a local bridal store on the Gold Coast, Made With Love. The first dress I tried on I fell in love with, it was simple, had long detachable sleeves and the material was stunning, within five minutes I decided I had found the one.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “My favourite moment with my now wife hand-in-hand together with a margarita in the other sitting in the back of the mustang getting photos – I didn’t even notice our photographers Maple and June capturing us soaking up our first moments as wives.”
WE’RE REALLY GLAD WE…”Kept the ceremony as a surprise. We got to re-live falling in love again when our celebrant [The Romantic Celebrant] read it out to us. I am also glad we allowed ourselves to stray from traditions, this allowed the day be more authentic to who we are as people and a couple.”
We know you’re loving on this wedding as hard as we are, and with that in mind, we’d like to direct you over to our directory, where many fab vendors, such as photographer Maple and June and florist/stylist Pia and Jade reside.
