Opting for a relaxed day, Claire and Lee sure did manage to pull off a doozy. Bouquets of pampas and feathers, bubbling pans of paella and one rugged barn fit the “rustic” brief perfectly. The standout? Definitely the bride decked out in Rue De Seine and one seriously impressive headpiece. Scroll down for more snaps by talented camera dude Mike Hemus

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We really loved our flowers. They were so unique and worked perfectly with our setting. The arrangements (including my bouquet and my bridesmaids’ hoops) were filled with a stunning collection of native flowers and foliage, feathers, pampas grass, rustic wheat, nuts & pods, berries and grasses – so many interesting textures and all within a very neutral colour palette. The flowers were dried and preserved which means they last forever! My bouquet is lying across my hallway table so I get to admire it every day.”

THE DRESS “My dress was an older season Rue De Seine style which I had been able to find online (secondhand) but only internationally and without the option of returning, so I decided that it was too much of a risk. I knew I didn’t want a traditional dress so only went to a few boutiques in Adelaide and Sydney and the rest of my search was online. I felt quite uninspired by what was available for something different within my budget so I kept going back to the Rue De Seine dress. I decided to take the risk and purchased the dress from eBay in America. I liked it when it arrived but LOVED it after some alterations – we lowered the back, changed the front detail and made a few other tweaks. It was so comfortable and I loved every second of wearing it.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “I loved our ceremony. There are no words to describe the overwhelming emotions of joy and happiness I felt as I walked down the long aisle with my parents, looking at my beautiful man with my sisters by his side and all of our favourite people surrounding us. Lee couldn’t wait for me to get to the end of the aisle so he walked up and wrapped his arms around me, which was such a precious moment. We wrote our ceremony with our celebrant and wrote our own vows so everything felt really personal and real. We had a good friend come up and speak about our relationship, which was so beautiful. The whole time Lee and I embraced closely and kept our eyes locked. It was very special.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…”One thing I am really glad we did was to involve our nieces and nephews in the ceremony. They are so important to us and we wanted them to feel included. Lee’s seven nieces and four nephews walked down the aisle followed by Lee and his two best men. My sisters, my parents and I then walked down from the top of a hill. We are also really glad that we chose somewhere kid-friendly. The kids ran free and had the best time. They explored the creek bed, played in the treehouse and kept themselves busy all day and night!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Heather and Rob from Brooklyn Farm treated us like family and made us feel like Brooklyn Farm was our home. They were both hands-on the whole time helping us bring everything together and set up for the possibility of rain as well as baking us brownies, helping to set up and pack down – it felt like we had another set of parents helping out! We also felt so lucky to have found our photographer, Mike Hemus and our videographer, Solomon from Fragment Films. Everything was relaxed and fun, nothing posed or unnatural and we felt so comfortable. For the most part, we forgot that the cameras were even there and felt like we were hanging out with two lovely mates. They are both incredibly talented and captured our day so perfectly.”
