Christine and David knew from the get-go that they wanted to do something a little different for their – starting with swing dancing lessons for their first dance, a lively and fun alternative to the classic waltz. “For a particular section of our dance the teacher reminded Dave not to step forward too far during one of the moves as he would most likely slip on an outside deck where we intended to perform. Needless to say, on the night David confidently stepped too far almost ending the dance on his back. A quick save and a round of gasps and we briskly carried out the remainder of the dance with a humbling grin.” Lesson learnt!
Hoping to have a celebration that was laid back with a standing cocktail style (that would ensure their guests could relax, mingle, eat and drink whenever they wanted), the pair searched high and low for the perfect venue before landing on The Boathouse Palm Beach.
“All it took was a brief prompt from one of our best friends to realise it would probably fit our criteria perfectly. We went there for brunch and just fell in love with the place. The food was delicious, in such a beautiful and stunning location and was just perfect. We knew this place would suit the relaxed, beach vibe we were after for our wedding. The decision was very obvious to us, so we booked it in.”
Inspired by their love for the beach, Christine and David admit their both quite relaxed and easy-going, so a boho style wedding with as few formalities as possible was a no-brainer. The couple hired legend Ashdown & Bee to help organise their day. “We wanted to keep our wedding planning as stress free as possible and these guys made that possible. They set up and packed down all the furniture, arch and drinks station which made it so easy for us,” explains the bride, who adds that one of her favourite details was the blooms by White House Flowers.
“Mel at White House Flowers did a great job capturing the look and feel I was after for my flowers. All I gave her was a theme and my favourite colour, coral, and she did an amazing job. What she created was way better than I had imagined. My favourite piece was the beautiful flower crown she designed for me and my flower girl Audrey, not to mention the bouquets and arch installation were stunning as well. They perfectly exuded the summery, bohemian, bright and colourful theme I was after,” she explains, though The Robertsons Photography were a standout vendor as well.
“David and Shobz are such lovely and amazing people. It was so great having them around on the day, they made us feel really comfortable and were so much fun to have around. They constantly checked in to see how we were feeling throughout the day to make sure we were relaxed and not stressing! They were so patient during the speeches which went longer than expected, and were so nice and professional about it. Their work is simply amazing and the photos turned out stunning, we couldn’t be happier,” says the newlyweds, whose take on marriage was undoubtedly spot-on.
“Marriage is about sleep-ins, unexpected compliments, whispered nothings, knowing glances across the room and £snuggle time. It’s about silly moments, nonsensical in-jokes and reminiscing. Marriage is about committing to the one person who knows you the best, who has seen the best and worst of you but still looks forward to coming home to you every night. They are your best friend of whom you share every moment and who knows when you need space and when you need support. Marriage is about growth and building a legacy, whether it be through family or through shared and individual goals. Marriage is a constant endeavour to love each other unconditionally.”
