Stop what you’re doing, friends. This wedding should not be missed! Thanks to COVID-19, these two cuties (and their pup) had to postpone their “BIG” wedding in Byron Bay, but went ahead with what they have coined their “micro wedding” anyway – and highly recommend it! There was something super special about it just being us. No distractions, no fuss… just the two of us and our little doggo”. There to make it all happen was a fair few of our all-time fave Directory vendors, lensman, Scott Surplice Photography, cinematographer, Morelife Films, and celebrant, Married by Allegra. Add to that a bride and groom in Zimmermann and M.J. Bale and the ingredients for a goodie are all there. Scroll down for the details…

THE THEME “COVID-19 Seaside Vibes all the way. Pretty cliché, but totally us. Ocean lovers, outdoorsy, morning people. Nailed it. And totally nailed the government brief of five people! The spot (Mistral Point, Maroubra) where we were married is part of our normal routine and daily way of life.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We loved having our three-month-old Golden Retriever (Byron) form a big part of our little day. He was hilarious throughout our ceremony – chomping at the flowers, cruising around the headland like he owned the joint, and overall, just making our three other wedding guests laugh!”

LITTLE LOL “I tried to make some ‘ceremony/ stage flowers’ using huge cylinder vases from home and some palm leaves that I found on a walk to Coogee one morning… however it was a little windy in the morning, and they both fell over! Massive fail. I still concede that they looked awesome though!”

THE DRESS “My original dress was from a boutique called Babushka Ballerina, however, due to COVID-19, it didn’t arrive on time. It was stuck somewhere between here and India… So I tried a few places and agonised over what to do, but eventually phoned Zimmerman, who was incredible and offered to help. Emily from the Rosebery store was an absolute lifesaver and made me feel so special!”

A WORD OF ADVICE For those couples who are utterly deflated and disappointed that they can’t go ahead with their big wedding during a COVID climate… I say, push ahead and get married anyway! It was seriously the best! We were bitterly upset we couldn’t go ahead with our celebration in Byron Bay, but truth be told, we are now ecstatic that the formalities are less emphasised, and we can just have one HUUUUGE party on the same day, one year later!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Sooooo stoked we did a sunrise wedding! The photos and video turned out epic, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was a pearler of a morning! Todd and I have a bit of a motto between ourselves that ‘if you win the morning, you win the day!’ It was certainly one to remember!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All of our vendors – Married by Allegra, Scott Surplice Photography and John of Morelife Films – were seriously amazing! They totally brought their A-game to our ceremony (*even at 6 am in the morning!) and totally punched a super fun energy and vibe into our celebration. We couldn’t have been more impressed with their level of commitment – especially at a god-awful hour of the morning – their passion, and overall, their kindness. We had the best morning with them. Even despite COVID-19, we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way now!”
