Originally meant to be married in Oct 2020, but COVID (and then the AFL grand final) had other plans, so this clever couple changed to February and boy was it a wedding to remember. Scroll down for all the pics from lens lady Ali of Smith and Archer and some sound advice and learnings from the couple…

THE VENUE “Hidden at Fyansford on the Barwon River, Provenance Wines ticked all the boxes when we were looking at potential Geelong venues close to the CBD. It has so much character and the white stone walls provided the perfect ceremony backdrop. Having both our ceremony and reception all in the one beautiful indoor space felt so effortless both in the lead up and on the day.”

FAVE DETAILS “Getting married under the draping clouds of black gyp was my favourite visual element. I also loved the contrast of scattered white, including our bouquets and mine with added hints of lunaria. Looking around when the dance floor came alive really gave me time to appreciate just how amazing Provenance Wines looks at night – all lit up with fairy lights and candles.”

REFERENCES “Ali (of Smith and Archer) was the gem we found on Instagram. John and I just clicked with her and she allowed us to look at a few of her client’s albums which, as soon as we had a peek, sealed the deal for us.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Seeing Johnny at our reveal. It was the best thing ever to just give him a big squeeze and spend those moments together before we parted again for the ceremony.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “I am such a task master when it comes to organisation, so I felt it important that our run sheet very clearly outlined each detail for each person involved on the day and with a bit of luck I can safely say we actually ran ahead of time (shocker). So my advice, if you don’t love the sound of organising your own run sheet, have someone else do an A++ job for you as it really will help on the day.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We had a reveal and photos prior to our ceremony. We were able to see each other in such an intimate way, just the two of us and our videographer and photographer – it was perfect and the exact way I wanted to see John for the first time. The added bonus is that it allows you to join the party straight away and be present with your guests – we have never been ones to miss out on all the fun.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “My dressmaker Karen at Pearls & Roses Bridal. From the moment we sat down I felt so at ease and I knew I was going to be looked after. Karen is a wonderful listener and her eye for detail, professionalism and beautiful personality makes for the most special journey to taking your very own custom wedding dress home with you – if I could sum up my experience I would say it was the process every bride deserves.”
